12thMan 09-07-2006, 11:08 AM I remember l was living in L.A. at the time and I had to return a rental car. I was listenting to the radio on my way there and I thought the radio personalities were just acting really weird saying, America under attack.
Well as I entered the place all the agents were glued to the TV, no one was helping anyone. I was like, what's going on? For like ten minutes, I thought it was a horrible joke.
Go Skins, let's some Purple all over the beltway around ten o'clock that night!!
Monkeydad 09-07-2006, 11:59 AM I was working in a County government building in PA that day. I had been evacuated from my building without even knowing what was happening yet. I drove to my then-fiance's (now-wife) house and saw the TV. It was hard to believe what I was seeing.
I guess this was how the nation felt on December 7, 1941 too.
I live near Three-Mile Island and there was panic that a plane was going to hit it. It was discovered later that nuclear plants were being considered by the terrorists.
My wife's family is all from or in NY, so it was especially tough. Her sister lost a guy who was a groomsman in their wedding and a close friend. We had a cousin who was stuck in traffic and could've been in the towers. My aunt works in the federal government in MD but luckily not in the Pentagon.
Every generation has an event where people will ask "Where were you when it happened..."
Events like the JFK assasination are always seared into the memories of everyone. For my childhood, it was the Challenger explosion...for my adult life, the unforgettable event will be 09/11/01.
I hope everyone is thankful to the military and our leadership who have prevented this from happening again. It HAS been planned and attempted...and stopped many times. When we fall asleep completely, we'll end up like Spain, France and even England who get hit when they least expect it.

Definitely not the place, DMEK:)
Suffice it to say, we all honor those who lost their lives on that day.
artmonkforhallofamein07 09-07-2006, 12:37 PM A special thanks to all those armed service men and women out there protecting our freedoms. I will never forget 9-11, and the site of 90,000+ fans at Fed-Ex on Monday waiving those American Flags and screaming there heads off for our beloved team may just bring a tear to my eye. I'm sure we lost some of Redskins Nation on 9-11 so we should all cheer extra loud for them.
LETS ROLL!!! AND HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!

Hey Artmonkhall...did you hear Tom Jackson and Mike Irvin defend Monk and said they don't understand how is it that he isn't in the Hall. They've done it in the pass, but this was like on Tuesday's show. I like the fact they are consistent about their argument.
artmonkforhallofamein07 09-07-2006, 12:48 PM No I didn't hear that. I try not to listen to the guys on ESPN anymore all they ever do is bash us or praise everything the cowgirls do and it pisses me off. It's good to hear that about Monk though. I don't want to highjack the thread right now so I won't go on and on why he should be there. Besides you guys all know anyway.
Manusky91 09-07-2006, 01:10 PM I saw the events unfold on 9/11 from the NJ Turnpike, and spent 5 months working at the WTC during the recovery. I certainly will never forget.
I went to the first Redskins game against the Chiefs after 9/11, I went to last years game on 9/11. Both had unbelievable atmosphere and made me proud to be an American. Show your pride on Monday night, and show the world that we are in fact United.
God Bless America!!! Hail To the Reskins!!!
SmootSmack 09-07-2006, 01:23 PM I was working at a news station, and I had to produce some brief local news segment then I was going to take a nap. I thought to myself "ok let's just get this done with real quick then I go on my break" Honestly, when I heard that suddenly breaking news was coming in from New York that a plane hit a building I don't know why but I turned to my co-worker and said "Osama" I was purely speculating. But to watch it unfold was surreal to say the least
I ended up spending 7 straight days working and sleeping in the newsroom. My mom was supposed to be at the Pentagon that day. Luckily, a last second meeting at her office kept her at the last minute. As part of her job, she was actually overseeing the identification of all the bodies at the Pentagon. It was pretty rough on her.
Me and about 20 of my friends and I had come up with kind of a cool idea. For every touchdown the Redskins scored we each chipped in a dollar, for each field goal 50 cents. At the end of the season we wrote a check out to a foundation that was helping the children of Pentagon victims, providing money for them to get a good education. Unfortunately, that was the Marty year so the check was only for like $600. But we got some outside help to bump it over $1000. Not much still, but it felt good to help.
So yeah, it's definitely a day I'll never forget. And as much as I'm looking forward to this game I feel very weird when I say or hear other people say "I can't wait for 9/11"
