Samuels played much better today. I think Dockery has actually been one of our better linemen this hyear. He makes progress every year.
It might be time to draft a replacement for Jansen. He looks HORRIBLE.
No Simeon Rice
Daseal 11-20-2006, 09:04 AM Perhaps the O-line will play better when we establish an identity as a team. I'm trying to figure out whether we want to be a running team, or a passing team, and the O-line suffers as a result. The running plays we utilize this year are not the same plays Portis ran us to the playoffs with last year. I'm not so sure our linemen are the type to run many of the stretch plays Saunders likes to utilize. In KC he had lighter, active linemen with more of an ability to run to the edge. I don't know that we nedd to change personel as much as we need to change the method of attack.
In defense of Samuels I think in most games he acredits himself well. He did a great job today of riding his man far to the outside, and beyond the pocket. The only time he has trouble is with the speed rushers, as do most OT. He had trouble with Dwight Freeney mainly because of his speed. I think once the team actually establishes itself as arunning team once again, the pass blocking will improve, however they must commit to the run, and stay with it. We had far too few rushing atempts today.
Hey Bill Maas, we heard you say this exact same thing on TV yesterday. Nice plagarism.

What? Do you mean passing attempts?
In any case, going into the final drive, the Skins had run 44 plays. 22 Runs and 22 passes. Pretty balanced, don't you think?
It all comes back to the D. The D let the Bucs control the game with the run. 54 offensive plays in a game is terrible.
That Guy 11-20-2006, 09:52 AM we need to draft and sign defense. CB, DE, DT, LB, S, it's all a mess right now :(
oline isn't perfect, but it's not as bad as a bunch of other teams. we have no real depth though.

Is your real name Bill Maas that exactly what he said yesterday.

Our converting only 4/16 3rd downs did not help either.
The Zimmermans 11-20-2006, 10:14 AM We were also hurt severely by portis' absence, bett's attempting to pick up the blitz is like the redskins trying to stop the run, IT DOESNT HAPPEN
The Zimmermans 11-20-2006, 10:23 AM i CAN'T STAND when people say "we win when we get 25+ rush attempts", it's like saying "We win when we get to kneel the ball down at the end of the game". Rush attempt are a result of a win in general, if you get a lead you can run the ball and kill the clock, regardless of success in the run game. However, when you are losing, you can't run the ball too much if it's not gaining yardage, cause you waste downs and put too much pressure on your QB on third down. I think we might have been able to win that game if we actually passed more on 2nd down and threw more on third. Plus our defense gave up about 40 minutes in possession, so the offense only got the ball like three times in the second half, so F the run, especially if your gonna give it to BETTS. However, I fully support the run if we give the ball to Duckett more, that really bruises up the opposing team, they did it with allstott, we should have answered right back with a heavy dose of duckett, neither team could tackle those big guys.
