Because Samuels has nothing but a man rushing. Oguneleyeybnenenye has Jason Taylor and one of the strongest LB cores in the league. Not to mention, we all know that Samuels has the potential to be a devastating blocker, and now that we actually have an offensive line coach... Not to mention, we want to give our offense every option in the world.

SkinsNCanes,

Good question, I did not make my point clearly. I believe that Samuels, when performing to his potential, which I think Buges will bring out of him, will play at a higher level than Ogunleye. Ogunleye benefitted greatly from his counterpart on that Dolphins line. I'm not convinced that he will be as effective on our line.

Samuels has a lot to prove this year and I believe he will be a legit Pro Bowler for the first time in his career, this season.

This development could be fueling the rumor:

The Dolphins' left tackle, Wade Smith, injured his knee yesterday. He's awaiting the results of an MRI, and it's believed to be a mild knee sprain that would only sideline him for a couple weeks, but you never know with these things. Apparently, there's a lot of swelling in the knee.

That said, I don't see the Dolphins being willing to take on the monstrous contract numbers Samuels is currently carrying, seeing as how they're balking at paying smaller numbers to Ogunleye.

But has anyone else got wind of this rumor or are the boys having a pop at me again?

I've been checking left and right eversince you posted this. I haven't come across anything yet.

As bad as Samuels has played the last few years, I would hate to see him go and become a great player somewhere else. I think he deserves another chance to prove himself under this new system.

That's right, we don't want to see the Redskins become the Wizards...

Well, what about this, to fuel another discussion. The Dolphins seem to feel they have plenty of talent at dline,a nd linebacker. But they really need an oline. People arent sure about Ogunylele yet so they odnt want to pay him big bucks. SO what if we traded Samuels, we got Ogunyele and their first round pick for next year.

As much as I believe that Samuels will finally perform up to his potential this season, his contract is rediculous. How many 8 million dollar tackles are out there. I guess it's wahtever the market will bare but his numbers are embarrasing given his performance last season. Maybe if anyone is dumb enough to pick up this contract, we should unload him. I take back everything good I said about Chris. You can get 2 good tackles for 8 mil, 9.6 mil in 2005, he's got to go. I hope he has a great season next year so that teams will view him more favorably in trade talks.

because technically, we dont always have to be the team overpaying adn giving up draft picks, we could actually get a draft pick every now and then.

this is from yesterday Miami Herald
Despite a published report indicating interest from the Washington Redskins, the Dolphins have no plans to trade unsigned defensive end Adewale Ogunleye at this time, a team source said.

The Washington Times reported recently that the Redskins offered a No. 1 draft pick to the Dolphins for Ogunleye.

''I am not permitted to discuss Wale's situation with other teams, nor do we feel like we have to,'' said his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. ``We have focused our discussions exclusively with the Dolphins. [But] I am well-connected within the NFL, and I've heard the report is accurate.''

Redskins coach Joe Gibbs has denied the Times report. The Dolphins don't comment publicly on trade rumors, but the team might consider a trade only if talks with Ogunleye don't progress during the next two months.

Negotiations on a new contract are not expected to intensify until closer to the start of training camp July 30.

''We're at somewhat of an impasse,'' Rosenhaus said. ``The biggest hang-up has to do with guaranteed money.''

Although Rosenhaus said he believes it's unlikely it would come to such a point, he confirmed Ogunleye would sit out either the first seven or 10 regular-season games if he doesn't reach agreement on a long-term deal. If a contract isn't worked out, the Dolphins must notify Ogunleye after the third preseason game if he will be suspended the first three games after he reports.

If the Dolphins take that approach, Ogunleye would report for the final nine games of the season. That would allow him to suit up the minimum six games needed to qualify for unrestricted free agency next offseason. If the Dolphins don't suspend him, he would report after 10 regular-season games.

''But we're a long way from that, and I'm very optimistic we can avoid that,'' Rosenhaus said.

• The Dolphins have had preliminary discussions on a contract for first-round pick Vernon Carey, and the sides have not exchanged offers. But agent Ben Dogra said he's not concerned. Serious talks are expected to begin after the July 4 weekend
