As long as the D-line is pourous against the run, the play of the LBs will suffer. Dick Butkus in his prime may have struggled behind this unit. I agree that McIntosh has to be the starter on one side next year.
I agree I think 90% of our defensive issues start with the line...We need a hard charging DE in the draft and maybe another DT through FA...we've been getting by on smoke and mirrors up front for awhile now and it finally caught up to us this year.

We bring in A. Carter and draft 2 DT's ,,,, DL played poorly this year . The last three years we use the 5th pick & 9th pick < Taylor/ Rogers > and bring in AA this year ,, secondary play was horrible . We let , Trotter , Pierce , mitchell and La < who sucked > go and we fire the LB coach , not the DL or secondary coach ? Maybe Lindsey is a jerk , but had LB been given the attention our DL and secondary received , maybe the results would have been better .Good news is Olivadotti is well respected .

I agree with you. Some of the guys on this team need to realize that it's an honor to put on that uniform.
I agree, and there was a time in the NFL when players did have more pride in the positions they held on a team, and considered it an honor to be in the NFL. However, sadly those days have gone, and the "In your face" type approach has dissipated, players no longer respond to it because they know they can always get work elsewhere. They no longer feel threatened by the demanding concept.

Based on the fact that players in their contract year always seem to play great. IMO they play extra hard because they know if they dont play great their contract may go down.
Of course the Redskins like to not bother with contract years and extend players that have had a few good games (Betts) thereby removing any discomfort and incentive for the player.
"players that have had a few good games (Betts)....."
Betts had 1154 rushing yards this year!
He's had 307 in '02, 255, 371, 338 and a total of 2425 and a 4.3 avg. Betts has played in a back up role with us. He is a Redskin!

This is Washington Post quote about this Oliva guy...
Olivadotti has spent his entire seven-year NFL career with the Redskins. He joined the team in 2000 as a quality control coach, as well as assisting with the defensive backs.
What the hell is that? Like he makes sure the food at Redskins Park is not rotting?

Quality Control is what Coy Gibbs does these days
