I think what we all fail the realize is what goes on behind closed doors. Here, you have two guys who can't stand each other and they have to try and work together? The owner called it dysfunctional. I think Spanos saw the problems and had to make a move. Same thing went on when Snyder took over. He said Casserly and Norv were fighting "like cats and dogs." dall-assblows 02-12-2007, 10:16 PM he didnt get along with the owner. that sucks for marty Sheriff Gonna Getcha 02-12-2007, 10:18 PM I just read the statement by the owner over ESPN. "Dysfunctional" as in 12-4? If I were a Charger fan, I would be absolutely sick. That grown men can't maintain a professional relationship indicates that one or both of them needs a serious attitude adjustment. On an related note, next offseason should be full of head coaching candidates - Schottenheimer, Fisher, Cowher, Grimm, and several high-profile coaches should be available should Gibbs decide to retire. 12thMan 02-12-2007, 10:47 PM Appearantly the Charger brass was upset about all the assistants that got away this year on both sides of the ball. Then Marty and AJ Smith had a small disagreement about whether linebacker Donnie Edwards will be back next year. Front office says no, Marty wanted him back. The straw that broke the camel's back, however, was when Marty wanted his brother Kurt Shott as an assistant. Spanos stepped in and said enough is enough. This is why it's reported Spanos said they are 'dysfunctional." SkinEmAll 02-12-2007, 10:50 PM I just read the statement by the owner over ESPN. He said Casserly and Norv were fighting "like cats and dogs." yeah but you dont do it this time of the year! And like Sheriff said, grown men need to handle their business. No one ever said people that work together have to love each other. Seriously stupid move, should have waited til the end of next season to fire him. Well I guess this makes our front office look pretty good, for now..... MTK 02-12-2007, 11:09 PM Wow, Chargers fans must be really happy right about now, their off season is officially in disarray. LOL skinsfan69 02-12-2007, 11:11 PM Appearantly the Charger brass was upset about all the assistants that got away this year on both sides of the ball. As far as gameday strategy he is as uninvloved as any NFL coach I have ever seen. With that being said he is still a solid coach and what I like about Marty is he teaches. So what if he wanted his brother. Kurt has been a good NFL coach for many years. It's not like he's not qualified. And all Donnie Edwards does is lead the Chargers in tackles year after year. Sounds like AJ Smith needs to take a hike. Dirtbag59 02-12-2007, 11:15 PM Go Super Chargers!!!! Hey do the Colts have any assistants worthy of consideration for the job? Crat92 02-12-2007, 11:36 PM Too bad for Marty. I wonder where he'll resurface? Who would be inclined to want an ultra-conservative coach? |
