Per NFL Network: Smoot Officially ReleasedTheMalcolmConnection 03-01-2007, 12:47 PM He was FILMING...DUH. Gmanc711 03-01-2007, 12:52 PM I still havent seen any official links for this though, so this is interesting. It's been like a hour/half since I posted it TheMalcolmConnection 03-01-2007, 12:54 PM I know that when I go "pleasure" boating, I make sure to have a boatload of strippers and get oral sex in front of a bunch of people. That's why I said strip club AND whore house. READ man. Manusky91 03-01-2007, 01:01 PM All indications point to his return, so get ready. And get ready for all of the interviews with Fred Smoot referring to Fred Smoot in the third person. BigSKINBauer 03-01-2007, 01:06 PM I'd take him back. He isn't a good corner. he really never was. He had a good year opposite Shawn springs in a defense that was so good and stopping yards, it was hard for a CB to f... up too much as long as they were above average. Why would you take him back if you think he isn't good? I think he was a good cover corner, but couldn't tackle. With ST in the picture now, he wouldn't be called on to make as many tackles. I would be happy to have him back. Sheriff Gonna Getcha 03-01-2007, 01:12 PM I'd take him back. He isn't a good corner. he really never was. Smoot is a DECENT coverage corner and I will be glad to get him back at the right price. My only concerns about him are (1) he's willing to try to stop the run, but it seems like he gets injured every time he makes a tackle on a RB and (2) he's not exactly the most effective blitzer. In most systems, such concerns wouldn't be that big of a deal, but GW asks his corners to do an awful lot. FRPLG 03-01-2007, 01:14 PM He has above average cover skills and can shut down most #2s in the league. He is way better than either RUmph or Wright and I think he is better than Harris. Even Harris is San Fran simply was a guy in the right place at the right time for the most part. Smooty should be welcomed back. I know it is all part of the scheme but look at what our 'blitzing corners' did for us last year. Let's get some guys who can cover and then worry about the blitz packages. I definately noticed that we didn't see as many corner blitzes last year because our coverage was generally so bad. |
