Leonard Davis to Cowboys....That Guy 03-04-2007, 12:59 PM good non move. no way he's worth that much. SUNRA 03-04-2007, 01:39 PM I'm glad we finally see why players want to play for us. Fortunately, we have no cap space to ablige them. High priced free agents = underachievements and injuries. joethiesmanfan 03-04-2007, 01:42 PM A note on these insane deals. These palyers are not top producers on the field. Teams will be stuck in mediocrity and have to commit cap suicide as we shine Gibbs fourth Lombardi trophy. We have our Albatrossaleta now they have theirs, evens the field. Pocket$ $traight 03-04-2007, 01:43 PM I'm glad we finally see why players want to play for us. SUNRA 03-04-2007, 01:50 PM They chose not to sign Davis and Dock. Why did they decide not to sign them? Too much money and they are still 2.3 million over the salary cap. MTK 03-04-2007, 01:54 PM Why did they decide not to sign them? Too much money and they are still 2.3 million over the salary cap. We were under the cap by approx. $6M before the Fletcher and Smoot deals. Pocket$ $traight 03-04-2007, 01:55 PM Why did they decide not to sign them? There's a reason why they Cardinals let hime go. Plus he's not suited to play guard, he's not nearly mobile enough. I have a feeling the Synder was only entertaining Davis to get the cowboys to have to pay more for him. He' really not a very good player. exactly! You know his agent was talkin up the skins to JJ; "You know Wash. offerred..." I said this in the first thread about Davis that I hope we just drive up the price for the boys, so this is good news as far as I'm concerned. I know the guy has to be an upgrade over an old M. Rivera, but as far as chemistry & work ethic, I question the wisdom of paying big $ to a guy that has been known as not giving his all. I can't think of any player that had such a rep, got paid huge $ & suddenly starting playing at a pro bowl level. We'll be better off w/a solid rookie IMO, even if there's a drop off in talent. Bill B 03-04-2007, 02:45 PM I think it's time to praise our front office a bit for remaining cool, calm, and collected in the midst of an insane market. We've kept our heads about us and haven't done anything to severely jeopardize our cap future. Schneed - I agree with you - the money being thrown around on players is silly money in my book. One question though - could the FO have at least tried to place the franchise or transition tag on Dockery so we could have at least gotten some draft picks in return or were the Skins too restricted by the cap? Doing that would have really handcuffed us for this offseason. |
