Here is Jenkins salaries for 07-09:
Jenkins, 27, has three years left on a contract that pays him $3.2 million in '07, $3 million in '08 and $3.7 million in '09.
This is reasonable if he is healthy but that is a big if. But when you compare it to what are other big time DL free agents make it is not too bad - especially since he got the huge signing bonus of $9+ million from the Panthers that would not effect the Skins cap. The only problem is every player who gets traded to us wants a new contract but maybe the injuries have reduced his leverage.

If the deal is in fact an extra pick and Jenkins for swapping first round positions, that would be intriguing. But I agree that Carolina is unlikely to offer that

The key part here is that he got injured during the seasons that he should have been making the jump from monsterous undisciplined talent to unstoppable beast. These are not years he can have back, and due to all the practice time he lost, its not a jump he's ever going to make.

What you have in Kris Jenkins now if he's totally healthy is an above league average player who could have been so much more. Fortunately for him, some team is going to pay him like what he could have been, and not like what he's going to be.

That team won't be the Redskins.

Well he is under contract through 2009, and his salaries each over the next three seasons are not ridiculous at all for a 27 year old coming off a season where he started 16 games and went to the pro-bowl. I said this move could be intriguing. He may not be the best D-tackle in the league, but when healthy he's right up there.

The question I have is who would Carolina covet at #6? They are weak at safety (an aging Mike Minter and then maybe Nate Salley?), and if they wanted Landry, he'd be there. I could see it happening, but I don't think they'd give us any additional picks other than the 14th.

He doesnt wanna be here; I dont want him here
He hates the fans; I dont like him
Carolina wants more picks; I dont want us to give up anymore.
If he comes here it will be for the money; I am sick of players comming here just so they can get paid!

Jenkins is a NO-GO in my book.

What I'm trying to say is if he is TRADED here he is already under a contract that is not too high priced through 2009. Unless he demands and extension, he can be gotten without him sucking us dry. I don't care what he said in college 6 years ago about the Skins. It's worthless to worry about that crap. How many guys on our roster do you think cared about the Washington Redskins before they signed their contract? This is a business.

Yes it is a business, but the success of any business is determined its greatest asset. The greatest asset in any business is people. Shitty people= shitty business. I will take one player whos heart is into the team over 10 overpriced studs. The one other thing that you are forgetting is that when you are traded you have no decision where you go, and if you end up somewhere you dont like, are you really going to perform at your best?
