I think Finch was a co-worker GMScud 04-18-2007, 03:44 PM You forgot to put in F-. If you put that in I would cast my vote as F-. He is the one of the worst owners in sports. Who cares if he wants to win. The question is does he know how to win? 1. How do you fire Norv with a 7-6 record? Fire the guy after the season, not during. AWFUL! 2. 2000 speding spree was a complete joke. 3. Ran off Brad Johnson for Jeff George. AWFUL! 4. Fired Marty after he had the team on the right track. AWFUL! 5. Hired OBC who was a joke of an NFL coach. Why wouldn't you hire Marvin Lewis? Complete stupidity. 6. Charging fans for training camp. Would JKC ever do this? Hell no. 7. Not bringing in a GM. If Danny Boi really wanted to win as badly as we all know he does then he would bring in someone who knows how to do it. Why is Floyd Reese still working for ESPN? Who cares if it pisses off Gibbs. Too bad. 8. Why does he keep Vinny around? No reason to do so. WTF has Vinny done since he has been here? Oh yeah. He brought in Trung Canidate and let go of Steven Davis. Simply pathetic. There is so much more but no need to even bring it up. He sucks as an owner. Period. AMEN BROTHER!! I gave him a D, only, ONLY b/c he brought Joe Gibbs back. That bumped him up a grade. Otherwise he's a big, emphatic, F. Jamaican'Skin 04-18-2007, 04:23 PM He gets an F for effort Monkeydad 04-18-2007, 04:27 PM B from me. He gets the best players he can, whether people thinks he's overpaying or not. He manages to stay in good cap shape by writing contracts we can work with and renegotiate annually so we can afford the players we need. If the players don't work out, like Arch, it's not HIS fault...he fills the roster holes, not runs practices and workouts. Bonus points for bringing back Gibbs and handing him control of the team. He just writes checks and does it better than anyone else. While on finances, he has made the Redskins the most valuable sports organization IN THE WORLD. We're worth a billion dollars! Why he doesn't get an A? Well, the first few years and the Spurrier experiment. He has learned from the "get vets to win now" mindset and has helped us develop a great core of young players for the long-term like Taylor, Cooley, Campbell, Sellers, etc. Snyder gives us a team that can win on paper. When injuries or bad performances happen, it's NOT his fault. SmootSmack 04-18-2007, 04:28 PM More and more I wish we had a Bill Bidwill or Donald Sterling running this team. Just so people could see what a bad owner is really like TheMalcolmConnection 04-18-2007, 04:35 PM I think Finch was a co-worker Thanks for trying to make me feel better. *sniffle* :( Master4Caster 04-18-2007, 04:39 PM D, maybe D+ for effort. Last year, when I thought he was mostly hands off and deferring to Gibbs, I would have given him a C. Strengths: Wealth, and not afraid to use it to stock the team DC-based; unlikely to ever move the team to LA Put in elevators to the upper deck of FedEx Put in Easy Pass system to speed up concession lines Lured Joe Gibbs out of retirementNeeds Improvement Not football smart. His flawed concept for building a team is disruptive. Taking short cuts is leading to an unbalanced roster, salary cap disruptions, skirting the salary cap. AS a result, his team is good with manipulating contracts for a few big stars; not good with developing young talent. Not an organizational leader. NFL teams are like GE. Snyder runs the Redskins like a 1990s dot com. Dot coms got their value from creative software engineers working in a free wheeling way to create a niche product. They are one hit wonders. One or two stars could make you rich. GE operates for efficiency and effectiveness at every level, and across-the-board leadership. It's not enough to have the best light bulbs, GE wants to make the best jet engines, generators, locomotives, . . . . They want the accounting department to be as efficient as manufacturing. Acting organizationally, they have sustained success. NOT a one hit wonder. Snyder proposes a trade for Lance Briggs and THEN he tells Joe Gibbs? Did Snyder talk to Gregg Williams to get an understanding of if and how Williams might use Briggs before hand? Or what the trade offs would be? I doubt it. That's the kind of move Snyder was making in 2001. He said he would stop. (F) Flawed vision. Snyder want to win now. Misguided, it might lead to a single Super Bowl and then a break-up of the team. Instead he should target consistent playoff appearances and build the best front office/souting team in the NFL. Then he might have a resilient team that overcomes injury by reloading from the bench, instead of rebuilding after failed seasons. Consistent playoff appearances boost the odds of getting to a Super Bowl. I know the Skins won't win the SB every year. I want a perrienial contender. SmootSmack 04-18-2007, 05:06 PM I love the way you broke that down Master4Caster. Whether or not I agree with all your points, that was a great post. skins009 04-18-2007, 08:58 PM D Though he wants to win he has no idea how to. We need a football operations guy who knows what he's doing. Cerrato is terrible. And he needs to stay the hell out of operations. Do you guys realize he put together the trade for Briggs at a bar??? He probably had been drinking at the time, because I still say its a bad deal for us. |
