Clinton Portis used to be one of the top rushers on my list. As of this interview his stock just dropped off my radar. I can't believe that this man attended college. He doesn't understand that cruelty is a crime no matter if it's towards animals, or humans? That's ridiculous. What he's basically saying is watching to lives fight until one isn't a life anymore is humane. How stupid can you be? I hope the NFL fines him for stupidity. People like him should not be NFL icons. On top of the fact that Vick hasn't even been placed at the scene or convicted of anything, so trying to defend some one who's denying anything happened shows he's up to date on his current events. Just shut up and try to finish a season without an injury and earn your money. No one wants to hear Dr. Portis' opinion on something that just doesn't really make any deal on his plate more lucrative.
What he said was dumb and we really didn't need to hear his thoughts on the matter. However in the grand scheme of things I think this is something that will blow over quickly and really isn't a huge deal.
It certainly doesn't warrant some of the extreme overreactions I'm seeing here, but then again nothing really surprises me anymore. A player could sneeze the wrong way and people would get up in arms over it.
To summarize:
Portis's comments = dumb.
Crazy overreactions to what he said = dumber.

What does any of this have to do with football???
Neither Vick nor CP are condoning dog fighting, there is rampant speculation everywhere and this wreaks of smear campaign journalism. Even if there were felony charges against vick, who cares if portis supports him. He is his own man and is entitled to his opinion. Why should we as skins fans try to hold CP up to some high moral standard as a human being? He isn't elected to office, he just plays football. He isn't "embarrassing" this organization by expressing his views about the triviality of this whole F-ed up fake ass Vick scandal. Ppl just need to chill the F*$@ out and let everyone live their lives. If an NFL player is saying or clearly doing something that is against the league's rules and is detrimental to the team then by all means criticize him. But if he is just exercising his first amendment rights thru some benign comments leave him be. If you are foolish enough to make statements along the lines of trading portis or not cheering for him as much because of this, u don't deserve to be a skins fan.
Lets see Vick's house 70 pluse dpgs, fighting ring, etc.. is in your mind "fake Vick scandal". So now that my feelings turn a little toward Portis (I just expected more from him)because of his comments I dont deserve to be a skins fan. If that how skins fans are to be looked at "in your eye's" I'd say allot of people need to find a new team.

Wait a minute...someone sneezed wrong? Where? Who was it?...Cut him...we don't need that kind of stuff on this team
Let's see........1) "where there's smoke, there's fire"? 2) Ron Mexico has had several confirmed fires in his brief career. 3) More smoke.............NO fire?
= I think not

animals don't have souls, and who cares if we abuse them and kill them. We are people, they are nothing.. worthless... they are on this earth for us to do what we want with them. Burn them for all I care.
There - maybe that will take the attention off of Portis.
(just kidding everyone - no hate mail please).

i love dogs but what portis said isnt that big of a deal to me, what gets me is just how ignorant these supposed college graduates can be. .
kids must choose their role models carefully nowadays, portis needs to do some damage control of his own if he wants to amend the relationship he had with some skins fans but does he even care what we think of him or does he just want to get paid????
dogs are mans property last time i checked the law (if someone kills your dog you get replacement value not sentimental value)
to a degree a man should be able to train and raise his dog as he see fit . .
however when you breed 70 plus pits at a time for fighting the personal bond and sense of mutual loyality is gone and its nothing but a crime . .

The funny thing is, this is the exact opinion of my uncle, who happens to be a very religious man. You could probably draw a line in the sand about this issue, and 90% of bible thumping conservatives probably don't care in the least about it, other than legal ramifications. It seems to be the tree hugging liberals that are up in arms, and trying to equate the life of 38 pound killing machine that supposedly can't think for itself, with the life of a human being.
I'm neither, and I still don't care what Portis said or even that Vick might be involved in dog fighting.
