See this is dumb. I would say "duh" to the fact that he is declining because he is getting old. But to assert he has had two sub-par yearas without mentioning that the reason was because he has been hurt is just stupid. The he calls him Smith and shows how little of an effort he put into this.

This post sums up my thoughts perfectly.

Don't get angry with some NFL analyst just because he happens to say something less than totally laudatory about a Redskins' player. :(

Remember, he's talking about a team that was 5-11 last year!

Springs is not nearly the elite cover corner he was 5 years ago. Part of that is injury; part of that is age; part of that is that is that other elite cover corners have emerged since the time that he was - unquestionably - in that category.

Springs- when healthy - is so obviously the best CB on the Skins' roster at the moment that any debate on that topic should be filed under "S" for "Sheer Stupidity". :hitfan:

Nonetheless, a half dozen other teams have a better #1 cover corner than the Skins do and maybe that number is as high as 15. But I still want Springs on the field for every defensive snap in 2007 if the Skins' defense is going to improve over last year's horrid showing...:biggthump

I think it's overstating things to say he has never played up to his athleticism (whatever that means - more great writing from SI).

Kind of hard to argue that point, with his age, and constant injury problems. I would like him to have a mayor GREAT last year in DC, and go out with great season.

Have to wait and see, don't even know for sure if he'll be around, yet? Although if healthy I hope he is.

You can add in C. Griffin in there too. These are our best two defensive players and both have not played up to the 04 performance the last two years. Is it age? Perhaps.

I think that was a pretty good assessment. Hope he can regain his form. Dude did get the "sharpie" pulled out on him though! Classic! LMAO

Springs is at the age where CB's begin to decline, and he's admitted as much. It's up to him to prove himself to be an exception to that.
