There's no way Miami would trade their young star DE for above average "50/50" WR Rod Gardner. Good DEs are a lot more valuable than WRs like Gardner because there aren't as many of them. If Miami makes a trade, it's more likely that they'll go after RBs like Travis Henry or Willis McGahee or someone with real star potential. Regardless I'd like to see more of McCants as the Redskins' possession receiver and I hope he steps up.

while I agree they're also looking for a rb, don't discount them going for a solid #2 wr whose shown flashes of #1 wr capabilities to pair up with Chambers cuz teams do some risky things when desperate and the phins right now r as desperate as u could get. and there's no way a trade would happen between in division opponents where one team gets a solid starting rb and the other gets an upper end pass rushing de.
I think something thats been left out in this argument is with all the bad publicity the phins have gotten this past offseason(hiring dan marino then him quitting less than a week later cuz he didn't want to be just a figurehead, ogunleye stting out, Williams retiring, and now their most physically gifted wr is out for the year), the phins fo might feel like they need to try to make some type of positive splash before the season starts and that could easily be either to trade away a prized commodity who doesn't want to be there unless the money's right(ogun) for a rb or wr or both.

I think our depth at WR is what's going to help us win the NFC East. The glaring weakness in the toughest division in the NFL is lack of depth at CB for all teams. Thrash vs any nickle or dime is golden for us, and having 3 solid CBs (if Harris gets healthy) will help our pass rush with Arrington back at WLB and a more aggresive def. coordinator.

Leave things as is, we can win like this. Besides, O-gun seems to not be a team guy, just a 'me' guy to hold out like this. Let Arrington lead this defense to the Superbowl.

I agree we can win with our current team but he would fix one of if not our biggest weakness on d. And there's nothing wrong with being a player who has perfomed at a high level consistently wanting to be paid what he's worth in NFL money. And I don't believe he's even under contract right now and in the nfl u have to look out for yourself money wise cuz the teams more than likely aren't gonna be there for u after u get hurt or used up.
the first 6-7 games of the year while he sits out will help show everyone whether he is the product of having jason taylor on the other end or if he and taylor aren't that far apart in talent.

and another thing that makes this injury suck for the phins that I didn't know until reading an article about it on yahoo, but boston was done to 228lbs and that would have been one of if not the best wr combo in the league with chambers teaming up with boston having his head on straight and him being in shape(speed wise, dude's always gonna be ripped). cuz we all saw what he could do with the cardinals when he was in incredible shape and focused and let me tell u I wasn't upset one bit when he went to the afc, lol.

Boston was one of the few to abuse Champ on a regular basis. So much so that a resolution called Champ Protection Act was drafted in the US Senate to protect CB from predators like Boston.

boston and toomer have always had champs number. TO be fair though Champ only played Boston when he was a rookie and one year pro.

I just heard from ESPN radio that Chambers just went down with an injury.

I like Gardner, but I'd pull the trigger on this deal in a second assuming that O'guns conditioning didn't go down the crapper during the offseason.

I also agree that we need to hang on to next years picks and stack the D-line.

Throw Gardner and Betts at them and see what they say.

I just did some more searching around, and it sounds like the Chambers injury is nothing more than a strained hami.

Theredzone.Org is reporting that O'gun and the Phins are getting closer to a deal.

they are going to keep him now, they have a ton of cap space with Boston on IR and ricky gone. They also need to rely on their defense

as a side note, in madden teh skins have like 10 million in cap space.
