Before, Gibbs undoubtedly stressed that he would be fullfilling his 5 year contract. I'm sure after the type of season the Redskins have had (up and down season, injuries, death of ST,) it has made Joe Gibbs step back and re-evaluate things a bit. I have a feeling Dan has a 2 year extension for him and is probably wanting Gibbs to sign it as soon as possible. Gibbs might be considering the possiblity of having up to three more hard seasons like the one the 'Skins just had. Not sure how much Gibbs has left in the tank for that.

But, I agree with Smootsmack. I'm not ready for Gibbs to leave just yet.

gibbs pressers are worthless. you don't need to watch it, i can already tell you what he'll say.

vague things, no confirmations, no useful information.

thank you.

I just find it very interesting that we heard Riggins on the radio saying that Gibbs was offered a two year extension. This was mentioned like two weeks ago, and we haven't heard a single thing else about it. Now given Gibbs' noncommittal talk today, this tells me he's at least THINKING about retiring.

Who knows what he ends up deciding, but there's definitely a trend going on pointing to him being very on the fence at the moment.

He's pretty old, been on an incredibly stressful emotional rollercoaster ride and he's pretty old. Give the man some time to relax and see his family. Once he feels he's ready to make a decision, one I think will be to stay, he'll announce it in a proper and respectful manner as is Joe Gibbs' style.

I don't know that an extension was actually offered at that time, the subject of discussing an extension after season's end was broached. As is my understanding.

I just hope it's not a case of him stepping aside to elevate Williams before anyone else snatches him up to be their HC. Like I said though, I think he returns.

What's up with the rumor that Williams might be talking to Miami?

Did coach Joe really say this:

But Gibbs said he believes these Redskins are on the right path, with the right quarterback and the right personnel. If ever there were a time to walk away, this might be it.

This is according Adam Shefter.

I was on the phone during the time Adam Shefter was talking about Joe Gibbs, but I didn't get to hear what he said. Hopefully Joe returns for at least his final season, and we win the Super Bowl. That should be how it all ends.

Yea I also heard the 2 year extension talk on Riggo radio and fan nation had it rumored. Then soon after that I heard it was just that a rumor. But no tellin?

I would think Dan would love to sign Joe for a 2 year extension. But I would think at this point 3 more years might be more than Joe is willing to take on just my guess, but that would have Joe 70 years old.

I would be more than happy to take whatever time Joe is willing to give the team. But with the team pointing in the right direction I REALLY HOPE he will at least come back next season minimum.

Maybe he didn't want to commit to a starting QB, because it won't be his call next year....Just a thought.
