I am going to have to agree with DynamiteRave here. I think a Black president would be more hated than Bush is right now. We do have an extremely backwards society.
I feel like some people will simply vote Republican because Obama is Black(if he gets the Democratic Ticket).

Not really related to the democratic debate, but I didn't feel like starting new thread about it. Fred Thompson has dropped out

EDWARDS: ....I've committed not to have any corporate lobbyists working in my White House on the first day that I'm president. Will you make the same commitment?
Is that even something that he could stop as President. I feel thats one of those thing you say you will do then if elected you try to present a bill which you know will be voted down but then you can say you tried. I know the President cannot present a bill but you get the point. This idea of Obama and people hating him is from people up north watching too much TV about dumb southern hick guys.

I'll tell you what. I think a lot of conservatives(note: not "Republicans") would completely disagree. To me there isn't much difference at all. They're both full of big government know it alls ready to spend our money as fast as they can as long as they can get votes out of it.
Very true. I'm shocked by the number of conservatives who still consider their interests aligned with the Republican party. The party ideologies shifted 100 years ago - I wonder if there is another shift coming? Of course, I don't see the Dems backing off on gov't-funded programs any time soon, but I could see a new Republican party with a true conservative garner a lot of votes.
