Has it occurred to anyone that The Danny is too much fan and too emotionally invested to make a rational decision? This coaching search reminds me of so many times in the past where The Danny pined for everyone else's high profile free agents, yet allowed some of our homegrown talent to walk (B. Mitch, Smoot, Pierce, etc.). Leaving Williams and Fassel hanging is no way to conduct a search. If he was serious about McDaniel and Spagnuolo, he should have put off interviewing others until the week of the Super Bowl. The current coaching staff is being left in limbo for close to a month. I wouldn't blame Williams if he eventually got the offer then told Danny to take his job and shove it.

How else can he go about it? He couldn't put off interviewing other candidates in the meantime because until just recently there were other HC openings around the league.

I see this as him conducting a thorough search of all possible candidates. Why hire someone now when someone like Spagnola or McDaniels are still possible candidates?

I know everyone wants to view this as a disaster, but if you look at the other side of it maybe he just wants to make the best possible decision and he's in no rush to do so. Perhaps his downfall is he's being too patient.

Who says they're hanging?

That's the thing that really bugs me about all of this. People come on here and talk like they *know* every detail about what Dan Snyder is doing. None of us do. Anything we *think* we know is nothing more than our assumptions based on the latest rumor-of-the-minute.

I'm going to wait until a coach is named and the circumstances of the hire have been released until I form an opinion on all of this.

Yep, too many people are taking media speculation as fact and are automatically assuming the worst.

Maybe those like myself that aren't assuming the worst are dead wrong. I'll be the first to admit it if I am, but the reality is nobody really knows much at all right now.

I know some may see this as me saying that we can't have a negative opinion. I'm not saying that at all. I'm just saying let's try to maintain a level head and see how this plays out. Some of these chicken little responses are just totally ridiculous.

I think Snyder actually does care what the fans think, but he shouldn't. I think, having grown up a fan himself, he thinks "Oh the fans will love it if I make this big move and we bring home a Super Bowl this year." But sometimes, you just have to accept that things take time. It's sort of like that saying "Buy a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat for life."

Snyder needs to remember he's more than just a fan now, and he needs to stop trying to make the impulsive moves to instantly gratifying his fan base. I believe that he is heading in that direction. Now, of course, a lot of the fans are up in arms over this. But f' them. If it gets you so worked up that you're going to cancel your season tickets, sell all your memorabilia, never watch another game and so on just because of speculation...then just do it already. Enough with the empty threats. Just leave.

How much work really gets done during the month of January for a team not in the playoffs? Dont coachs and players usually get this time off anyways for a few weeks before draft prep (assuming you aretn teh scouting coach at the senior bowl). I dont think not having a coach for even a month translates to loses in September. Its not like its a QB holding out for money and not getting reps.

I get what you're saying SmootSmack about the fans, but on the other end, you can't completely ignore the fans. As I said before, one of the things I loved about Gibbs and that endeared him to us all, is that he acknowledged us all so much. Snyder does have to make the tough calls regardless of fan sentiment, but completely ignoring public opinion will lead to bad news.

While not a lot of work gets done right now I think it's mainly a review of the prior season and the start of prep for free agency and the draft. But yeah they do typically get some time off.

Yea this is 1 of the 12 months that Spurrier would take off to play golf instead of coach.

Did any college coachs get hired this year? I dont think so right? Saban and Petrino pretty much put a sour taste in the leagues mouth. When Pete Carroll interviewed in Atlanta I knew he wouldnt take it, hes like a god at his college and doesnt have to work near as hard.
