in a lot of peoples eyes he has all ready messed things up. I know people say he is covering his bases, but seriously. According to some new sources, which I will find dont worry, Jim Mora Jr had the job if he wanted it, Fassell had the job if they could have gotten the assistance nailed down. Some people out here seem to think that the reporters who cover this team from inside the locker room and outside dont really know what they are talking about. Even the insiders on ESPN who generally get the info pretty dead on more often than not seem to feel and hear that Snyder is screwing this thing up. That GW may not even take the job now, and Fassell may walk away too after what transpired the last couple of days. I for one will generally listen to the people who cover these guys for a living and know more than all of us here combined.

Plus, I have a friend who is a state trooper in louden county who does detail for the team and keeps in touch with some guys on the team, and he says they are none to happy about whats going on. saying the majority of the team is set on GW as the coach and think its incredibly stupid how this has dragged on.
Yea and yesterday while I was hanging out with Gibbs he was taking calls and advising Snyder not to make any moves until he gave the OK. When Gibbs hung up the phone he looked at me and shook his head saying "Man I love this Snyder guy but he is in such a rush to hire a new head coach and keeps calling me every five minutes. I just have to tell him to keep on looking and we will find the right guy fo the job and he is really fighting his guts out to find the next coach). While he was saying that Gibbs phone rang again and he told me to hold on it was Snyder on the phone. He walk away for some privacy but I still heard Gibbs trying to calm him down then he hung up. He walked back over just shaking his head and said "man he is going crazy with al the fans up in arms about what going on and I told him to keep fighting gut out and that we will find a high quality guy to be head coach". I feel sorry for Gibbs.

whether you want to poke fun at the person who I get info from is out of my control. I can only say what he has heard from guys in that locker room. was i there, no but still have to believe him when all other reporters are saying the team is really supporting williams. No need to be a sarcastic ass about it.

Now, of course, a lot of the fans are up in arms over this. But f' them. If it gets you so worked up that you're going to cancel your season tickets, sell all your memorabilia, never watch another game and so on just because of speculation...then just do it already. Enough with the empty threats. Just leave.

Well put SS...

Honestly, the only problem I have with this situation to be completely honest with you is the way the team has handled this from a PR standpoint...

I'm sure you heard Bram Weinstein's interview on Riggo's show yesterday and he pretty much said it...the way this has been handled from a PR standpoint is a textbook example of how not to handle these things...now I understand there are certain things that cannot be divulged when dealing with new hires and contract negotiations...but there is not a team in the league that I can honestly think of that has mucked-up things as badly as the 'Skins have with thier secrecy...I mean Christ, you would think they are guarding the secrets to cold fusion or something with the way they have been acting.

Then you have Dan Synder's reputation for being meddlesome and generally uncooperative with the rest of the league (perhaps one of the reasons why they are having trouble getting cooperation from other teams in getting coaches) combined with the fact that they have really burned up a ton of goodwill with the fans and other teams by overpaying for coaches and players.

This whole thing is turning into a perfect storm of just plain bad press and ill will with the fanbase...

Smooty, come on. Why go there and just throw your hands up and tell fans to just leave? That's not fair. People are frustrated and madder than hell. I think Snyder should care about what the fans think. After all, many of them were in place to support his beloved franchise decades before he even thought about football. I'll go a step further, yes, the fans should also influence, to some extent, how decisions being made impacts the franchise too. Should every decision made by Snyder have the fans in mind? Of course not, let's be real here. It's a business...but that's a two way street. You can't say on one hand I want to build a quality franchise, but on the other hand consistently rub the fan base the wrong way.

I happen to think he's responding more impulsively now than when he first began the coaching search. While he probably didn't care at all at the beginning of the search, I think it's quite possible that he is now paying some attention, proabably too much, to the outrage by the fan base.

I respectfully disagree. I think people want results instantly. This is why we have so many moronic threads after every loss. Snyder has to, HAS TO, separate himself from that. It's that steady hand that you always hear about Gibbs having in the course of adversity. So what if the fans are mad now? How many times have we griped about being the "Champs of the off-season" Is that what's most important to us? Is it so important that we rush to name a head coach at the risk of regretting the decision come mid-October?

Like I've said before, I completely understand the frustration fans have. Hey, I'm frustrated too. I want a decision to be made so we can move on with our offseason plans. But if it takes a little longer than everyone wants for everyone (everyone who truly matters) to be comfortable with the decision, then so be it. But it's one thing to give rational responses to your frustration, and another to demand Snyder sell the team or you're taking your toys and going home.

If your (not speaking about you specifically 12th) answer to the wait is to go off the deep end, then really you need to get a life.

(by the way, do you ever see Jack Heinbaugh at WRC?)

OK lets split hairs.

LOL! They weren't exactly splitting hairs. You clearly suggested the "Snyder bashers" were wrong for thinking Danny's throwing away the foundation Gibbs has laid since it "looks as if Gibbs is right in the middle of everything going on right now".

They were just pointing out that Gibbs aint really in the middle of squat except for his move to Toyota.

I actually don't mind the hiring of Zorn as OC. Saunders system sounded great if you had the right personel for it but we obviously don't. I don't want to wait 3+ to find out whether it will work or not.

Something simple will do on offense and let the defense be the complex part our team.
