Dirtbag59 02-07-2008, 01:10 PM Did you fall down the stairs as a child, then again right before posting this thread?
Sellers is one of the better FBs in the league.
Neal is a great FB, but while Sellers is here, there's no need to get an other FB.
Seriously, I don't know what the rest of you guys are smoking but I want a hit. Also while we're at it why don't we talk about how Michael Vick was a pocket passer while Peyton Manning is the leagues best scrambling QB.
Is Chris Berman going to have to choke a bitch? JESUS!! I challenge anyone here to survive a hit from Mike Sellers. I suggest a lot of you go back and watch film on the guy and stop relying on Madden ratings to evaluate players, especially after the season.
Ok, I feel better now. I still love you guys, but damn.

Seeing that sellers hardly ever "hits" anyone. I am talking about his blocking ability it is sub-par at best.

Quake you make no sense. He's a very good run blocker, that's the best part of his game.
Dirtbag59 02-07-2008, 01:45 PM Iron Mike Sellers
Just got off the phone with Big Mike. As those of you who read this blog often probably already know, if you made me pick a favorite football player on this team - from a pure football standpoint - it would be him. I have no rooting interest in it or anything, but the way this guy puts his neck out for his team and the kind of punishment he dishes out, it's hard to not have a soft spot for him.
Opposing defenses only saw a bruising blocker that made a living paving lanes for tailback Clinton Portis. Sellers however, proved to anyone watching closely that his talents were endless, scoring a touchdown 61.5 percent of the time he touched the ball last year.
At 6-3, 284 lbs. he is a unique mixture of size, muscle, and skill. He is a lethal blocker, able to smash holes through a defensive line. He is good receiver, a large target with great hands. He is a power back, one who tends to run over people rather than around them.
For some the image of Mike Sellers is synonymous with that of a madman, one who jaw-jacks to players of opposing teams after crushing them under blocks. To others the image is that of a cagey veteran who can sell a block and then slide out for a touchdown catch in the flat. Still to others, he is a terrorizing runner with the ball, one who can knock them on their rump and keep going.
FB Mike Sellers is a bruising lead blocker at 278 pounds and a reliable weapon when given touches.
Sellers was inactive after injuring his back in practice. Sellers, who twisted his back during drills Wednesday, missed his second game since signing with the Redskins in 2004. Sellers is a staple of the running game as a lead blocker for Clinton Portis, is heavily involved in pass protection and is a short-yardage rusher. His absence was felt when the Redskins failed to convert on fourth and one in the third quarter. Sellers did not accompany the team to Tampa Bay and continues to receive treatment for his back.
Sellers, a Pro Bowl alternate, is a bruising blocker and he had three touchdowns ...
Sellers rejoined Washington in 2004 after playing his first three seasons in the NFL with the Redskins from 1998-2000. In the last two seasons, he has emerged as an offensive threat, both as a blocker and a pass-catcher in red zone situations.
Alright now that we've put the Sellers talk to rest we can get back to talking about the WCO.
It all depends on the system. Nobody really knows at this point what Zorn will bring to the table in terms of schemes.
Regarding Sellers I think he's a quality FB. I don't see a huge need to replace him.

I still think he is solid, no worries there.
But I feel this season is the one where we've got to find his successor. Maybe have someone share some time with him, or fill in for him when he's injured. I think late in the draft... just get a big coach-able body, tailor him to be ready in a year or two.
skinsfan69 02-07-2008, 02:15 PM Hey Guys,
I understand the basics of the west coast offense, but I have one big question. From what I've seen from the west coast teams they use a fullback. Is this a big staple in the west coast?
If so -- Lorenzo Neal is reportedly going to be released from the Chargers. Can't think of a better fullback than him. I like Sellers, but not sure how I like him in the fullback role.
Neal is something like 50 yearls old. Sellers is just fine.

u say his run blocking is the best part of his game i say his blockin in general (pass blocking, and run blocking) is sub-par

Ive poster before about Owen Schmitt. The guy is a absolute beast. He’s also more of a blocking back then a gimmick or receiving back, so he might work out real well under Sellers. Plus they are both about the exact same size. Definitely part of the big reason White and Slaton have become household names is because of him. Plus I think he went to PVI, so he may very well be a skins fan. I think he’s projected to go in the 4th round, but he had a really big run in WVUs bowl so that might of upped him a little bit. Neal is just too old.
Someone said that he hung around Chris Henry and other notable WVU alum a little bit and might have some character issues. But who would be better in this league then Mike Sellers to mentor him? Big Mike took the long road to get where he is now because of his character problems when he was younger. Plus if you smoke drugs (weed) and you had the chance to play for the team you grew up watching wouldn’t you change your lifestyle entirely? If not just to keep the chance of getting trader or cut the slimiest possibility.

He has blocked for quite a few 1000yd rushers in his time, but not sure how he would fit in here. He is also getting along in age.
Plus, I know you didn't fall down the stairs as a child because your house didn't have stairs, and I doubt very seriously that you're Chinese.
