That Guy 03-17-2008, 02:03 PM I say DT because we have a pretty good rotation and a great defensive coach and therefore the's no need for drafting a DT on day one ie Sedrick Ellis or Alan Branch, I mean Glenn Dorsey even if they fall into our lap at those picks. By the way I searched for combine results for Kedric Golston (really good) and Anthony Montgomery (not too good) and was pretty surprised. Chew on this...
Kedric*Golston, DT, Georgia - 2006 NFL Draft Scout Profile, Powered by The SportsXchange (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=10620)
Anthony*Montgomery, DT, Minnesota - 2006 NFL Draft Scout Profile, Powered by The SportsXchange (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=10256)
we have the full profiles (not the free ones) on here somewhere, and they were here a week or so before the draft, cause those were the only two DTs i really looked at for day two that year ;) lemme see if i can find it..
GTripp0012 03-17-2008, 02:24 PM I'm going to say WR, but it could be OT pretty easily if Jansen can be relied on for a full season.
We should probably just let the WR situation go another year at this point. Maybe a mid-round guy can be our #3, but it's not necessary to solve a non-issue with a non-solution.
SeanTaylor21 03-17-2008, 02:43 PM I'm gonna have to say DT, because we have three quality Dt's right now, Anthony Montgomery, Kedric Golston, and Cornelius Griffin, I know Cornelius is getting old but Kedric is just waiting to become the full time starter, and he is learning just as Anthony Montgomery did, we are set for years to come with those two.
PSUSkinsFan21 03-17-2008, 03:19 PM Well, if the question is where do we least need to "improve", then I'm going with OT. Anyone else we bring in certainly won't overtake either Samuels or Jansen.....it'd be merely a depth move (which I would support, but it isn't our biggest need).
I could see improving at WR through the draft (although perhaps we'd have to wait a year or so for the rookie to develop). I could definitely see improvements in DE (in fact, a round one DE could probably start by mid-season), and CB (if nothing else, a top rookie could be an impoved #3 CB). DT could be improved as well, but I think our needs are greater at DE and CB. OG is kind of similar to OT in that I don't see anyone new coming in and starting for us, but between the two, I'm more comfortable with our OTs than our OGs (in terms of the injury bug).
GusFrerotte 03-17-2008, 04:26 PM Concentrate on the D in the draft with new CBs, a new S, a D linemen for a change. I still say go for a WR though somewhere in the upper to mid rounds. All of our studs in the position are questionable in my opinion. Santana rocks, but gets hurt a lot and age will become a factor in a few seasons if it hasn't already with the injuries. Randle El has really nice games, then just average games, no consistency. Caldwell showed promise at times, but then he didn't get too may balls thrown to him. Get some young guns at WR or at least one, then get another in draft 09'. I would say another CB or DE in the first round.
DynamiteRave 03-17-2008, 04:28 PM I'll say CB
We have Springs, Smoot and Rogers even though he's coming off of an injury and they are pretty good.
Maybe if we could get 1 more guy in, preferably a young one because Springs is getting old, I think CB would be set.
Big C 03-17-2008, 04:37 PM DT. we have griff, montgomery and golston. OT we have samuels and jansen who is coming off a pretty bad injury for the 2nd season out of 3 thats why i disagree with the majority here
FRPLG 03-17-2008, 04:38 PM Well I said WR but I have reconsidered and think OT is right. Outside of a franchise tackle we'll probably not get anyone better than Jansen and certainly not any better than Samuels so a OT is going to be a depth/long term pick. Outside of injury I don't a OT playing for us this year whereas all of the other positions have a decent/good shot at starting straight away.
Stuck in TX 03-17-2008, 05:23 PM DT. we have griff, montgomery and golston. OT we have samuels and jansen who is coming off a pretty bad injury for the 2nd season out of 3 thats why i disagree with the majority here
there was alot of trashing going on last season about how we didnt draft a DT and you know, you are right, we really do have a solid DT corps. Its a tie between that and OT. we are getting kind of old on the O line though. We need to start looking towards the future.

We really only need 1 OT, because of Stephon Heyer, and if Lorenzo Alexander can play T maybe we should see how he plays.
