I sort of hate the resurrect a dying thread, but ....

A good point from Peter King's MMQ -

"Gil Brandt called in on Thursday and made a tremendous point on this Malcolm Kelly controversy, about Kelly claiming the university had him run on a slow surface at Oklahoma. Kelly ran 40-yard-dash times of 4.63 and 4.69, and if the surface was so slow, then why did Adrian Peterson run a 4.39 on the same surface last year?"

King has us take Merling in his mock draft ....

Since when did public speaking and eloquency make its way into the job description for being an NFL wide receiver?

Outside of the Wonderlic and a few other very undependable personality tests, scouts have very little information available to assess how good of a PR person an athlete will be.
This little media gaffe should have no determination of how well he can play or what kind of career he is going to have. If ppl wanna portray this kid as a selfish, accident waiting to happen WR, then that is very presumptuous. Imagine if Denver had stayed away from John Elway b/c he publicly refused to play for the Colts (which was a much bigger "primadonna" move than Kelly being critical of OU).
