I'm going to trade my ps2 for a ps3. On the other hand I know the need to be responsible, so I'll probably save at least $10 or $20 of it.;)

Not towards the government, but towards my mother. She intends on claiming me until I finish college and thus, no rebate check for me. :( FRPLG 04-29-2008, 03:33 PM I'm not getting one and I'm bitter. If not you can just file and she can pay the consequences of claiming you. BleedBurgundy 04-29-2008, 03:38 PM I'm not getting one and I'm bitter. If I were getting one it would have payed for a new GPS system to replace my stolen GPS. What do you make per year that you get nothing? if you don't want to / can't answer it's cool... saden1 04-29-2008, 04:39 PM What do you make per year that you get nothing? if you don't want to / can't answer it's cool... Enough not to get a rebate check and not enough to be rich ;);) I'm actually surprised that many in here are getting money back. Maybe it has to do with being married and having kids? Riggo44 04-29-2008, 04:54 PM How do you know how much to expect? Does everyone that qualifies get the $600? MTK 04-29-2008, 05:03 PM The IRS website can help you determine how much you'll get back saden1 04-29-2008, 05:04 PM How do you know how much to expect? Does everyone that qualifies get the $600? You can use this calculator (http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/start.do) by the IRS to see if you're getting one. Schneed10 04-29-2008, 05:28 PM Enough not to get a rebate check and not enough to be rich ;) I'm actually surprised that many in here are getting money back. Maybe it has to do with being married and having kids? Yes, that's exactly the case. If you file as a single person, and you make over $75K, you get nothing back. If you are married and file jointly, and you make over $150K between the two of you, you get nothing back. Otherwise, the single person gets $600 and the married couple gets $1200. So if I were on my own as a single dude, I'd be in the same boat as you. But luckily the wife's lame ass salary keeps us below the $150K mark as a couple. Each kid gives you another $300 as well. I knew they were good for somethin! mooby 04-29-2008, 06:17 PM I'll be getting $300 back. My money is going to have to go towards buying a really cheap car since I don't have one right now. My mom traded in the minivan I was driving so she could get a new car and now I don't have a car. I got a job last month but when I told them I didn't have a car they let me go because they said the bus wasn't "reliable transportation". So now I have no job and no car lol and my parents don't have money to help me get a cheap little car. | |
