jsarno 06-28-2008, 12:28 AM From those seats, you should have a great view of the cars coming out of 1 and shooting down the backstretch.
As far as trying to see Gordon, look to see if he's doing any signings. Probably the best way to see him. With the Pit Passes, just wander around, find his trailer, pit stall, etc.
Should be a blast man.
Does anyone know if Jeff Gordon is even personable like that?
jsarno 06-29-2008, 12:54 AM What is the best device I should buy to listen to race while watching? Any suggestions?
Also, if I bought a headset radio, will that drown out the roars from the cars, or should I still bring ear plugs?
BDBohnzie 06-30-2008, 10:02 AM Depends on how you want to approach it. For less than $100, you can get a portable Mp3 Player/Walkman with AM/FM capabilities and listen to MRN. For $130 (Radio Shack) or more, you can get a decent scanner and program in the radio frequencies for the pits). For $300 plus subscription, you can get the Sirius Stiletto 2, which is a portable Satellite/Internet Radio plus Mp3 Player. You'd be able to listen to the race plus pit frequencies of several drivers (Gordon is not one of the permanent frequencies, but each week, they put up a Fan's Choice, which is voted on at sirius.com, he won last week's vote for the New Hampshire race). However, I think the scanner rentals at the track are somewhere in the neighborhood of $30-50.
And unless you have the headphone cans (the style that completely surround your ears), I'd still go with earplugs.
Monkeydad 06-30-2008, 03:39 PM With the cheaper AM/FM option, you can go to the bathroom during the commercials and not miss any action. :D
You don't have to spend $100 for that...you can get them MUCH cheaper.
I'd go for the Radio Shack scanner.
Monkeydad 06-30-2008, 03:41 PM As for getting to see Gordon, take a sign that says "Marry me, Jeff!" and he'll come find you.

LOL.
His wife is hot...I doubt he will look in my direction despite the fact I am devistatingly handsome! ;)
On a side note, I just found out that the Skins are off that week...so I won't even miss a Skins game! That's just pure luck!
Good suggestions guys.
My wife suggested a small TV so we could watch the re-runs of the crashes. Any suggestions on that?
BDBohnzie 07-01-2008, 10:25 AM As long as the TV has good reception, and that there is a local ABC affiliate, then you should be squared away, if it's a route you want to go down. However, if you do not own a portable TV, remember to buy one with a digital tuner, so that you can continue to use it after next February.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
I think the TV is a waste, my wife just loves to watch crashes from every angle. I am most certainly leaning towards the radio.
How do people converse with one another at the race? Seems like it's too loud to even talk.

The cars aren't always on top of you...and even then you can still converse with the people around you...

Oh, ok.
It was my understanding that the track is small, therefore there are always cars going by. I thought you couldn't hear anything, thus needing earplugs. I misunderstood.
