yeah, the earplugs are more for protection...same reason guys who work security at rock concerts wear them...you could go without, but why mess with the eardrums like that?

Be aware of your surroundings when walking around the garages. The cars will not stop for you.

That's really cool you’re finally going to a race jsanro! There's really not too much I can add to what Bohnzie and others have said. But unless you’re planning on going to NASCAR events a few times a year I would just rent the scanner at the race. I've rented them a few times and it is cool to listen in on your driver. But honestly the last couple of times I've gone I haven’t bothered with it. I just like to hear and feel the engines roar by and take in all the different smells you'll find at a race. Like some others have said defiantly bring some ear plugs and get there early so you can tailgate and walk around and check the whole event out.

That's true I don't wear them all the time. But it's defiantly wise to bring them especially for the ladies and elderly. It can get hot and if you’re not totally into the race after a while you might start to get a headache and tire really quickly to the load noises. It's a good idea to bring anything you can think of to make the people that only go to the race because you like it happy. :food-smil
