Damn you guys are harsh. I did some really dumb things as a kid too. I just feel bad for him and his family.

Forget about why he didn't see/hear the train coming, why did he jump two fences in the first place?

It does suck that one dumb decision cost him his life.

Well the worker who was killed by the same roller coaster was struck by someones leg. I think the problem comes with the roller coaster hanging from the track instead of riding on the track. They heard it coming but did not realise how low it was and it took them out.

It would be OK if you don't ignore the fence and several signs.

The park did nothing wrong. This idiot did and unfortunately, he left his family to deal with the results.

I don't think anyone is saying the Park did something wrong. If you didn't do anything really dumb as a 17 year old you (a) are kidding yourself, (b) were paralyzed during your teenage years, or (c) must be in seminary school.

I agree and I can say that I did things that could have gone wrong and cost me or someone else their life. We could start a new thread on this "Dumb Stuff I Did When I Was Younger" for the younger posters we could start "The Dumb Things I did Last Night".

Sucks for him, hilarious for us!

I heard that when a security guard saw him climbing the fence, just before the train struck him, he told him to knock it off. The security guard is in therapy today.

I can't even begin to imagine being the friend that was with him at that moment

Yeah, he's probably head over heels with grief.

On a serious note, he made a bad decision and got himself killed. It's a crying shame in all honesty, and it's nobody's fault but his own.

But people die on account of their own stupid decisions every day. Some people drive home after 10 beers. Some people feed wild animals. Some people dash across the street in busy traffic just to make it to work on time.

This particular death however, gets press because of the gruesome and rare nature of the death, not to mention that rollercoasters and thrill rides have become a hot-button for people.

But in the end, this was just a guy making a dumb unfortunate decision that got himself killed. Is it sad? Yes. Is it out of the ordinary? Not really.

Some people put on deer scent to attract bucks not thinking that if one does show up its going to want to mate.
