Playing on an Island, man-to-man is different than the Cover Two, or the Cover One schemes used frequently. Playing nickel is different than playing the WRs one-on-one as well. PS was a means to see the skill set of our younger D players. Tryon was put to the test, showed he could tackle (albiet late on some plays) but could indeed stay with his man. I agree he should not have stayed with the team, nor should Doughty, but I'm not the talent evaluator guy in the FO. I would have drafted a DE with our first pick for the past 13 years! LOL!
You're the anti-Matt Millen (who has drafted a WR for what it seems thet past 13 years). LOL.

I am not a Tryon hater, I think he will be serviceable with time to develop, but I would much rather have McMullen or Mason.

It is hard to argue with that

We kept him because we needed a new Ade "throw to me for a quick TD" Jimoh on this team.

I think Tryon is on a short leash, with Richardson and Westbrook on the PS. 4th Round or not, the coaching staff must have seen something in practice that goes beyond his red-headed stepchild mentality against Jacksonville (as in beaten like a). Granted, this is a 4th or 5th string CB we're talking about, but with as injury prone as the CBs ahead of him have the potential to be, I think Tryon is a big stretch.

the practice squad was made for guys like tryon. I can't believe he actually earned a spot on the roster. Granted, I'm no NFL talent evaluator, but the guy just doesn't look like a player. I hate to be skeptical, but really Vinny? All of those 6th and 7th round picks are NFL worthy? Wow, you ARE a genius.
Those 6th and 7th rounders beat out pretty weak competition. Would you rather have a young guy like Chris Horton or an older guy like Vernon Fox? The former is unproven, but he's young and has some talent. The latter might know the system, but he's older and has proven that he is not going to be a decent starter. So, the question isn't whether those 6th or 7th rounders are great; it's whether they are better than the alternatives.

I'm at a loss for their keeping Tryon. The guy consistently looked out of his league going against backups. I cringe to think that we might need to play the guy if we have DB injuries.

Don't worry too much about Tryon. He's just holding a roster spot for THE ADE. After the 1st game, the skins can sign THE ADE and put Tryon on the Practice Squad. If they signed THE ADE now, they would have to guarantee his salary.
BRING BACK THE ADE!

Tryon simply isn't ready to step on an NFL field. McMullen was a guy we simply needed to keep. We only have 2 healthy WR's. Moss and Thrash. ARE has a freakin cast on his hand. Thomas isn't ready to step on the field and Kelly is hurt. Why we cut the guy made no sense what so ever.
