TheMalcolmConnection 09-29-2008, 10:38 AM el on returns again.
squib kick? wow.
doughty has another bad day at the office, but his fantasy team was 2-1 as of last night...
lavar was a little too happy on the post game show (actually, i was totally cool with that, but while i'm kicking puppies....).
I actually thought he had a pretty good day. He seemed to run straight up the field rather than dance around back there.
hooskins 09-29-2008, 10:45 AM Also, I don't want to be down on him. And actually I think I agree with the decision, but do you guys think Zorn should have gone for the TD on their last drive instead of the FG?
Well I was more upset about two straight runs in the first half when we had the chance to go up 21-7 and pretty much end the game there.
One of those plays should've been a PA pass.
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 09-29-2008, 10:55 AM I was on the fence with that. On one hand I love Zorn's aggressiveness, but that mentality isn't going to work all the time. In that situation I couldn't argue with milking the clock and not risking a turnover, and taking a 9 point lead with just a few minutes on the clock.
Zorn is pretty aggressive with his playcalling, which I love. However, there were a few times where I thought we could have been even more aggressive. I hated the squib kick; our special teams had the Cowboys on lockdown all afternoon so I didn't think the squib was necessary. We were running the ball very effectively, but I thought we ran it a tad bit too much on our last drive.
Overall, I can't really complain about anything. A+ for all 3 units.
rypper11 09-29-2008, 11:20 AM That coverage on Witten doesn't get any better.
People just look for anything to rag on Doughty.
Couldn't agree more. I only saw one bad play on his part yesterday (whiffing at the line on the jam) but several good open-field tackles and he played deep well when they were in the Cobra D (3 safeties).
hooskins 09-29-2008, 11:26 AM Couldn't agree more. I only saw one bad play on his part yesterday (whiffing at the line on the jam) but several good open-field tackles and he played deep well when they were in the Cobra D (3 safeties).
how about the Miles Austin TD? Reed got burned.
BDBohnzie 09-29-2008, 11:40 AM The Miles Austin TD was a broken play. Double-edged sword was that Reed made the right jump to go cover Austin as he looked to stay short, but because of the pass rush got to Romo so quickly, Austin improvised on his route to get open, leaving Reed to have to quickly shift gears.
birdz4gibbs 09-29-2008, 12:00 PM i thought rabach had a tough day to say the least since two score were called back..i,m always wondering what the refs are thinking especially when we play this team called dallas but it is what it is..we won the damn game anyways..
now for the prevent please scrap that freaking defense it doesnt do us any good anyways..that drive the boyz went down the field like we were asleep or something..i,ve never liked it and i never will. i,m happy with everybodys efforts other than going to prevent....only made it closer than it should have been. now for the last drive i was getting ready to see them punch it in or at least do another slant for the first down then run the clock down then kick the field goal or the touchdown whichever came first but overall they did what was best under the circumstances.
we shoud have never seen the onsides kick at the end anyways...
oh by the way that squib kick what in the hell were you thinking anyways..
but overall i,m feeling zorny today..
GMScud 09-29-2008, 02:14 PM I want to give props overall to special teams. Yes, the squib kick was awful, but that aside....
Suisham with 14 points (4-4 on FGs) in a game we won by 2
Durant Brooks much improved on punts with a net avg of 43 yards in this game (no bad holds either)
Felix Jones/PacMan Jones did nothing in their return game
Randle El looked better, but not great
Suisham has suddenly become a stud on kickoffs
Another excellent return by Rock. Seems like he's good for at least 1 nice return a game.
CanadianSkin 09-29-2008, 02:22 PM My one complaint is that Cooley is not getting enough catches/yards/TDs.... I mean come on Zorn, I have him and Portis in my fantasy league and even though I am winning most of the time, I like it when my Skins are the ones putting me over the top.
By the way, you need to read Cooley's blog today... He is just a funny guy and a true Redskin...
rypper11 09-29-2008, 02:35 PM I'm happy with the win, of course, but really if they convert that onside kick then in all likelihood we are 2-2 and thinking of how we dominated for 55 minutes but didn't win. I understand the concept of the umbrella D to keep it in front of you and make the tackle so the clock runs, but it almost cost the game. We came on the field at the end of the first half wanting to hold them to a FG and let them drive. Then, knowing they needed two scores we backed off at the end of the game too. If they happen to burn you then they beat you. Otherwise you are trying not to lose which is what so many people hated about last year.
