I think its hard to grade JT so far because he's been hurt almost since he got to DC. He hasnt had the impact I thought he would but IMO that's because he's not 100%.
Is J. Taylor really needed?irish 10-02-2008, 01:17 PM I think its hard to grade JT so far because he's been hurt almost since he got to DC. GTripp0012 10-02-2008, 01:21 PM One of the things that supporting the acquisition of Taylor was his remarkable bill of health, but given that he was 34 years old, the fact that he's hurt now for the first time in his career isn't all that surprising. If nothing else, this injury keeps us from overusing him as I believe the LDE by committee approach is generally more effective. Jason Taylor, when healthy, is clearly our best option to bookend Andre Carter. But we got screwed in the trade for him, I think. SouperMeister 10-02-2008, 01:23 PM I really believe that we would get more out of Taylor by limiting his play on run downs, and making sure that he's on the field for all passing situations. The Giants absolutely bullied Taylor on runs in the first game. Demetric Evans brings alot more bulk, and looked solid on the few runs that Dallas called. irish 10-02-2008, 01:28 PM One of the things that supporting the acquisition of Taylor was his remarkable bill of health, but given that he was 34 years old, the fact that he's hurt now for the first time in his career isn't all that surprising. They basically traded JT for a 2nd round draft pick who hasnt been drafted yet. MTK 10-02-2008, 01:32 PM How did the Skins get screwed? JT is going to be here for another year, so let's judge then. redsk1 10-02-2008, 01:39 PM I think a HOF DE would make a team better. I would say if we keep winning let's make sure he's fairly healthy before we bring him back. Even a less than 100% HOF DE would make this team better. In the Dal game, Wilson and Evans pretty much got manhandled. I think JT would have gotten a sack or two in the 2nd half. Takeuon 10-02-2008, 01:42 PM Plus hes been a little gimpy in every game so far That's what I'm saying. We probably wouldn't be having this conversation if he was not injured and played all the games. Cause his impact would be felt. I believe that! But since he has been "gimpy" pretty much since day one, and now side lined and not starting till who knows when. This discussion comes up. When he's healed up and playing. Watch out! In mind----he was a solid pick-up for us. GTripp0012 10-02-2008, 01:53 PM How did the Skins get screwed? Taylor is done contributing to us. GTripp0012 10-02-2008, 01:54 PM Even a less than 100% HOF DE would make this team better. In the Dal game, Wilson and Evans pretty much got manhandled. Although Andre Carter seems to be a much bigger factor when Taylor is rushing on the other side, I'll definitely give you guys that one. I'll say thus far, JT has looked like our most effective DE overall. From staying disciplined on screens, to batting down passes... he's definitely established himself as a solid DE here in D.C. Do we need him? No... but does he improve our overall D? Absolutely. If he can stay healthy and continue his production, he's def. worth the number 2 IMO. |
