Beemnseven 10-12-2008, 05:15 PM All right, hold on a second. Just as there are those who tend to overreact after a loss, there are those who overreact to the overreactors.
This is a Washington Redskins message board. That means that when they lose, -- grasp yourselves here -- some members will be upset and actually post negative things relating to the loss. It goes with the territory.
While I haven't read every single post, I'd challenge anyone to point out the poster who says that Armageddon is upon us, and this team is actually headed for a 4-12 record. I don't think you'll find them. I've seen some pissed off fans -- and there should be. There is no excuse for losing to the Rams at home. That said, anything can happen on any given Sunday.
So everyone needs to "CHILL OUT." That includes those who are about to jump out of a window, and those who are apparently eager to find those who are upset that the Redskins lost.
Beemnseven 10-12-2008, 05:18 PM The complacency is what drives me up a wall. I know it happens all the time in the NFL but when our guys go there it's maddening. The o-line was the epitome of complacent through 3 full quarters and Jansen began looking like his preseason self again. I understand the last two weeks were huge battles but to force Zorn/JC to give up on the deep threat because the line won't pass protect against the f'ing Rams... wow!!!
Yeah, who knew the Rams had a pass rush? When was the last time the Redskins D had 4 sacks?
Paintrain 10-12-2008, 05:44 PM Coming out flat+turning the ball over+dropping interceptions+missing assignments=losing an NFL game. So we go 3-1 in this quarter of the season also, we're 1-1 so far with 2 winnable games coming up. Still on pace for a 12-4 season.
johnerotten 10-12-2008, 05:47 PM the skins gave a game away today.bad breaks with the fumbles and that 1st fg the rams banked in,stuff like that went their way today.there's 10 games left in a long season,we live to fight another week.
birdz4gibbs 10-12-2008, 05:51 PM I don't think anyone thinks the sky is falling. But we definitely regressed today and blew an opportunity AT HOME for what on paper should have been a victory.
If I had to put a positive spin on it, I'd say that's our big wake up call. We've tasted success and proved that we can play with anyone this season, but maybe this was the gut punch we needed.
Remember, it's not IF you get knocked down. That happens to everyone. It's how you respond to getting knocked down. Most of these guys played for Gibbs the last 4 seasons and have dealt with plenty of adversity.
All I have to say is Cleveland better watch out next week. I think we'll come out focused and PISSED OFF.
it,s games like today that will tell us how this team will respond next week..
to sum it up today the skins weren,t in it from the start emotionally.they were careless and it showed throughout the game but this is only 1 game in a 16 game season...we will bounce back from this and respond with the confidence we have show these past 4 weeks prior to today..
on to cleveland..
irish 10-12-2008, 06:01 PM The Skins are still way ahead of the game. I never thought they were going to win all 3 of their next games and IMO this is a good wake-up call for the players to realize they may not be as good as they think they are. The Skins will win their next 2 and go 2/3 for this stretch and trhat isnt too bad.
jbcjr14 10-12-2008, 06:31 PM Skins beat themselves today, no question about that. You cannot have 3 turnovers AT HOME and expect to win. Great performance from the D all day until the end, but shit happens and there is a lot of football left to play. Game over, lets move on to the Browns and get a W.
skinsfan69 10-12-2008, 06:35 PM I just think that somewhere down the line this loss is going to come back and bite us in the ass. It's a conference loss and anyway you look at it, we can't lose to the Rams at home.
rypper11 10-12-2008, 06:38 PM Yes the Skins kept shooting themselves in the foot and we gave one away, but give some credit to the Rams Def and Haslet. He was a great motivator in NO and I think the players hated Linehan. Haslet had two weeks to prepare for us and he had his team fired up. This was almost their Super Bowl and the SKins played it like a preseason game for the first 3 quarters. If they keep playing opportunistic D and run Jackson more than they throw then Haslet might remove the interim tag and finish '08 7-9.
SmootSmack 10-12-2008, 07:58 PM I just think that somewhere down the line this loss is going to come back and bite us in the ass. It's a conference loss and anyway you look at it, we can't lose to the Rams at home.
On the other hand, we won two games against conference opponents (Arizona and New Orleans) at home and two games, which almost no one thought we would win, against division opponents on the road. It certainly doesn't help to lose this game. Good teams win the games they're supposed to win. But, unless we start to free fall, this won't kill us. And we have far more important games than we've lost.
I had thought that Cleveland would be our trap game, but now I actually think we'll win the next three-including the Steelers game.
