Some good news on the player front, Brian Pothier & Varlamov recalled Sunday. Hopefully the concussion thing will be a thing of the past for Pothier, or he will be for his own well being. I'm sure this is his last shot.

And the goalie news on Varlamov being ready to go is great. I really think hes our best #2 option. And has a very bright future with the club.

Pothier, Varlamov Rejoin Caps for Trip

Fifteen months after suffering the fourth -- and worst -- concussion of his career, Brian Pothier is on the verge of returning to the NHL.

His reconditioning stint with the Hershey Bears is complete. Pothier is a Washington Capital again and the veteran defenseman will accompany the team on its five-game road trip that begins tomorrow in Atlanta.

I'll have more on the Pothier development later.

Also, goaltender Simeon Varlamov has been recalled from Hershey. Michal Neuvirth, meantime, has been sent to the Bears. With back-to-backs in Atlanta and Florida, I have to imagine Varlamov will get into one of those games.

After back to back road games and a serious butt spanking last pm by the trash...5-1, and a poor outing by Theo!

Tonight the CAPS rebound vs. Fla. 3-0, solid team effort game! Good work between the pipes for Theo. He has to get consistent! But good solid win.

theo definately needs to be more consistant. some nights he looks awsome other nights he looks lost but really the same could be said about the caps entire defense, they need to be more consistant as well.

Monday pm Green was out and he is the key to making the D tick! Without Green and Feds (to take center ice and win the face off war) in the lineup there is a drop off for sure.

Poti has not impressed when he has been given every opportunity. I think Poti was on the ice for every goal Monday night.

And Theo needs to keep up the high level of play, that will be of key importance. Last night should have been an easy win for Theo he did not take ONE SINGLE shot on net in the entire third period and I believe it was only 19 or so the entire game.

Another solid road victory for the CAPS! 5-2 over the bolts

OVY stashes his big league leading 50th for the season! Green gets a duece, BADS finally gets his fifth, and Nylander gets one. All around solid game.

Most impressive the kid between the pipes Varlamov, this kid is OUTSTANDING! And the future net minder for this club!

We are only 4 points behind Boston in the East as the bees lost again, with 9 games left and we are in sole possession of the #2 spot in the East now. This is gonna be fun to watch down the home stretch! We have a chance to be the #1 seed. More than likely unless the bees continue to tank #2/3 is ours!

Green hurt what appeared to be his shoulder in the last few minutes of the third, gosh please lets hope its minor.

That Green injury is all I'm thinking about right now. We absolutely CANNOT afford to lose him down the stretch.

Oh yeah, and I'm not really a fan of Ovie's showboating. Tonight's thing with his stick was stupid.

Mike Green Update
I just spoke with defenseman Mike Green, who was injured in the final minutes of last night's game when he was pulled down by rookie Steven Stamkos. Green did not practice today, but said he hopes to take the morning skate tomorrow. At that time, he will decide whether he can face the 'Canes at RBC Center.
Green seemed to be moving okay. But he definitely is not "fine," as both he and Coach Bruce Boudreau (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/capitalsinsider/2009/03/update_on_green.html) said after the Caps' 5-2 win. If I had to speculate, I would guess that he's got an abdominal or oblique strain.
The team has not provided an official update on his status.

CAPS play like shit in the 3rd on the road vs. canes and come up on the short end of the stick, after 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd! 4-1

Theo is playing way to inconsistent at the wrong time. And he was down right awful in the 3rd. If he can't pick up his level of play and keep it up. He will be the short link that gets us eliminated from the playoffs early! I would start using Varlamov a lot more down the home stretch!

Just returned home from the CAPS vs. buffalo tilt.

The CAPS lost in OT. Tuff hard fought game. Just couldn't finish in OT.

However they did clinch there second, back to back Southeast Title tonight with the one point. Great season...the CAPS need to step it up as we get ready to enter the playoffs. But GREAT JOB!
