To me it looked like Eli made some perfect throws. The TD to Toomer was just perfect. Not too much anyone could've done about that. Smoot seemed to be in pretty good position.
Giants vs. Redskins Defensive GT Review: Suprisingly effective DL does little goodskinsfan69 12-05-2008, 11:16 PM To me it looked like Eli made some perfect throws. The TD to Toomer was just perfect. Blache does have a strange attachment to University of Georgia defensive linemen (Evans, Daniels, Golston). I was joking with one of my buddies that the Skins are going to draft Matthew Stafford, and then play him at defensive end. I guess he doesn't have much say in the draft process, otherwise we'd probably have Quentin Groves... Do you guys think it says something about Blache's player evaluation that he can't seem to find the right mix of D-lineman to play together, even though it seems we have the pieces for a damn good line? As good as our secondary can be, it's annoying to think we have a potentially great front and can't find the right player combos.... Smoot seemed to be in pretty good position. He is hella accurate and made some great throws in the conditions. Still, when the ball's up there that long, I'd like to see somebody make a play on it. GTripp0012 12-06-2008, 02:50 AM Just to get your opinion on the matter, if Daniels comes back and is 100% do you see him back in a Redskins uniform next year? I know Blache is a big fan of his.If he is still every bit as in good shape as he was this season, I think he's safe on this team. Like I said, I don't think Jason Taylor is a Blache guy and I think on this team, he's not a DE on first and second down, at least if Carter is healthy. I think if it comes down to Daniels and Lorenzo Alexander in training camp next year for the 9th DL position, I think it's Daniels. 70Chip 12-06-2008, 03:23 PM The defense is definitely not the problem. The problem is the passing game and the inability to sustain drives. If we get a 5 yard penalty or lose two yards on a run, we can't recover and convert a first down. There is no explosiveness in this offense. It's overly cautious and it's infuriating to watch. Zorn doesn't even try to attack a defense until halfway through the third quarter. Also, special teams is noticably down from the last four years, which is not surprising since most coaches will not spend as much time on it as Gibbs did. Gibbs was obsessed with special teams and rightfully so. SmootSmack 12-06-2008, 04:19 PM Here's a really interesting option for the three shade that I totally forgot about: Phillip Daniels. How could you forget Daniels! It will be interesting to see how Daniels and Buzbee recover from major injuries. I haven't heard any update lately on either one. I am more and more impressed with Alexander though, he's solid. GTripp0012 12-06-2008, 05:27 PM How could you forget Daniels! It will be interesting to see how Daniels and Buzbee recover from major injuries. I haven't heard any update lately on either one. I am more and more impressed with Alexander though, he's solid.Alexander is definately the absolute prototype for a 4th defensive tackle. He cost the team nothing to draft or sign. He's good enough to start a game if you need him in that role. He's got situational value even if all three guys ahead of him are healthy AND he plays in the goal line packages on offense and on special teams. I think we'd get killed on the interior if we had to start Alexander the whole year, but as the 4th DT, he's a pretty quality asset and definately worth a roster spot as long as he's one of the four best defensive tackles on the roster. Buzbee probably got hurt by Daniels' injury more than anyone else because going into the year he had a legitimate chance to be what Demetric Evans has been for us this year. Unfortunately, Daniels injury caused us to go out and get Taylor, and the chances that Buzbee (even with age on his side) outlasts both Taylor and Daniels on the roster has to be pretty small. hagams 12-06-2008, 06:17 PM Wow, good post GT. Too big for me to comprehend all of it at once. I'll come back later. |
