Portis has carried this team for the past four years. He should be upset and outspoken about being benched! Ladell Betts is worthless and Zorn is a predictable, conservative, neophyte play caller. Thank You, Clinton for laying it on the line every Sunday and shortening your carreer to try and help the burgandy and gold win.

Except that we can't trade him because his 2009 salary is already guarenteed, and he's got a guarenteed bonus coming in 2010 as well. Basically, whether he is or is not on the team, the Redskins are already on the hook to pay him like a top RB through 2010. So might as well keep him happy.
GT do other franchises bet the farm on players this way? It seems like at least half the time we talk about potential player trades we run into the same brick wall... "So and so is locked up/guaranteed a boat load of cash regardless of whether he steps on the field again." Why?

The only thing I would like to add is that Zorn should have benched Portis for his comments last week on the John Thompson radio show. The sooner we get rid of those kinds of players the sooner we could start winning again.

Are you kiding me? Portis has more heart and passion for our team than i see from anyone one else on the field...im ashamed that more of our players dont play with his emotion.
Players that are truly great are the ones that lay it all on the line...go out there and play like there is no tomorrow.
I would rather have ten guys on my team that have that energy, that emotion, that FIRE...than 52 over paid old vets like we do now.
