Jets RB Jones: Favre should have been benched - NFL - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=txjetsjonesfavre&prov=st&type=lgns)

So says Thomas Jones... Apparently Favre is the reason why the Jets collapsed in the second half of the season.

Uhhh... would anyone really argue otherwise?

It possibly could be if someone tried to compare the Jets collapse to the Redskins.

I'll leave that up to someone that knows football better than me.

The Jets knew what they were getting, or at least they should have. As thrilling as Favre can be at times, other times he can be extremely careless with the football. Favre made for great hype and marketing in NY, but looking at matters objectively, he had a big hand in their collapse.

Didn't Favre throw like 2 TDs to 5 or more INTs during their losing stretch?

2 TDs 9 INTs. And a league high 22 INT's for the year. Retire already!

Jones should've kept it behind closed doors but he was 100% right. Farve is just too careless with the football. It's almost comical that a guy that has played in the NFL as long as Farve still makes throws that a rookie would make. I don't know why they would even want him back.

It's called a "big ego". He should have stayed retired.

He's the most overrated athlete of all time. The media protected him through his time in Green Bay and it seems, finally, his rancid play is catching up with him.

Can anyone really argue that that team wouldn't have been two wins better with Pennington?

His injury probably had something to do with it, and the fact he didn't have a full training camp to get up to speed in the offense. Yeah he probably should have been benched, but that's typical Favre. You live and die with his gunslinger mentality.
