The Goat 01-15-2009, 11:06 PM To Skinzzfan and GF, the positivity is much appreciated. Another Skins fan once told me he thought we were the best team w/ a losing record (at the time). Well, I'd say objectively we're the best 8-8 team on the year so that's something.
(yeah I know SD was 8-8... I think we're the better team)

GMScud 01-15-2009, 11:40 PM Yeah, it really is hard. I mean surprisingly rooting for this franchise has brought me a lot of great memories over the years. Especially finding this site as I bet a lot of you guys can imagine it's tough talking Redskins football in Georgia. On top of that I think how can I leave when I have memories such as dressing up in my Redskins halloween costume back in October 91 or going absolutely nuts when the Skins beat the Jets on opening night, or of course my favorite memory as of late, beating the Cowboys on MNF back in 05. Of course I would be remissed if I didn't remember where I was when I found out Joe Gibbs was coming back to coach the team. Maybe it is just an empty threat, but I have to say my loyalty really is getting tested these days, though not nearly as much as say a Lions or Bengals fan.
Dude, just calm down. Take a deep breath. Your first post was a frustrated rant about defection. It's okay. My girlfriend would roll her eyes if you asked her to talk about all the times I've gone off on the Redskins. It happens. You're not going anywhere and you know it.

Well like I told my girlfriend in real life. If you cheat on me again then thats it. 38 times is 38 times to many!

Wow. Sounds like you've kept an accurate count. The Skins have never cheated on you, they just don't always put out. I guess that means we're married to the Redskins!
HAIL!!
SmootSmack 01-16-2009, 07:10 AM Yeah I hear you. Actually I have a confession to make. I Dirtbag have been flirting with the idea of becoming a Ravens fan. Fans talk all the time about sticking it to management and boycotting the team until something is done about the circus that is the Washington Redskins but they never have the heart to. I remember back in 2001 or 2002 when the Skins were like 0-5 1-5 under Marty how I started watching Ravens games the first one being the first match between the Titans and the Ravens. From that point on as more Ravens games started making their way to Atlanta I found myself becoming a fan to the point where I was rooting for the team in the Super Bowl with the same entuhsiasm that I rooted for the Skins.
Yeah call me what you will but only a fool would stay put in such an abusive relationship that is loyalty to these Washington Redskins. Now I'm not defecting yet but I have to say if nothing is done about the lines, and at the same time we get Vinny peddling his holy draft board then it's going to be very tempting to stand up and leave. Lifes to short to wait for Dan Snyder to learn how to run a team.
Back in the day I was a Cleveland Browns fan (Kosar, Slaughter, Byner, Mack, Minnifield, Dixon, etc) but I never could get myself to root for the Ravens (even though they moved much much closer to me), love the stadium though. But I respect what Ozzie Newsome has accomplished. Though it is is interesting that he has the same exact "best player available" draft strategy that we blast here. Nowadays, my second favorite team is probably the Titans. Been that way for 12 years. Long story of how they became my second favorite team.
But the distance between my first and second favorite team is bigger than the holes Timmy Smith got in the Super Bowl.
But anyway, what are you going to do if you go to another team and then they tank? Come running back to the Redskins?

I confess to dressing up as a Redskin during the George Allen era ;-).
Seriously though, my Dad is a long suffering Iggles fan, so I saw the pain of sticking with one team when I was just a kid. Suffering through the tough times makes the big victories much, much sweeter. Don't make the leap, DirtBag, have some faith that Zorn will have this team winning in due time.
44ever 01-16-2009, 10:18 AM I didn't read anything that indicated the same old. To me it looked like they were seeing the need to build the O line. Address the pass rush. And improve relationships and leadership roles. Did we expect Zorn to say "our Offense sucks but were working on it?" no but he did say build it which to me means changes to the O line. Including depth in that area.
No sense in freaking out now after what we've been through the last decade. We finally seem to have direction. I could be wrong.
What's with the Willy Wonka????
Dirtbag59 01-16-2009, 11:39 AM But anyway, what are you going to do if you go to another team and then they tank? Come running back to the Redskins?
Nope at that point switching teams will be easy since I'd already sold my soul. So if the Ravens tanked I'd take the Lebron James approach to rooting for teams. My new favorite Baseball team the Yankees, favorite Basketball team, the Cav's, favorite NFL team New England, favorite soccer team Man U, favorite international soccer team Brazil, favorite golfer Tiger Woods, and so on and so on. Then when people say, "dude you're such a frontrunner" I'd reply with something along the lines of "no, I'm just a winner."
What's with the Willy Wonka????
Just a play on words with the post I quoted and the end of the Gif.

Lol, obviously you weren't with me during last years draft. Not only did I come down with a horrible cold but every pick practically made me cringe.
Devin Thomas - Alright, would rather have Jordy but it makes sense
Fred Davis - WTF, a TE? Crap Malcolm Kelly's still on the board don't tell me they're actually going to
Malcolm Kelly - They actually...went out...and...did it?!??! You're f*ing kidding me *cries self to sleep*
Chad Rhinehart - Grrrrrrr, Bugel better have seen something in him, especially with guys like McGlynn and Schuenning on the board
Justin Tryon - Who?
Durant Brooks - A punter?????
Colt Brennan - Not the worst pick ever but Henderson and Justice are still on the board?
Kareem Moore - No one was going to draft this guy get Henderson!
Rob Jackson - Who the hell is this guy? Draft Henderson
Chris Horton - Oh this guy is going to be amazing. Yep he's probably going to get a handful of tackles and maybe around 3 interceptions.
