I watched the speech and paid more attention to his demeanor and tone than I did to the words. His body language, facial expressions and tone of voice were very serious and sobering, speaking to the immense amount of work ahead of us. But at the same time he stood up with his shoulders back and chest out, you could tell he feels confident.

I voted for McCain and preferred his ideas to Obama's in many instances, but I'm of the mind that once the decision is made, it's time to fall in line. I'm behind him and rooting for him as I'm sure all of you are too, but I'm also willing to give his policies a chance. While I disagreed with a lot of it, the time for debating is passed, it's time for him to execute and I'm watching hopefully to see that it turns out well.

I was impressed with him and proud to have him as my president.

Well........President O'Bama is in office. AND, I don't see one positive change, YET!

I thought it was a pretty good speech overall. Now it's time to get to work.
Work, I thought we could quit work and Obama would provide us shelter, food, health care and an education.

That was cool! Two million people really don't take up much room considering.

Come on, he's already the Gun Salesman of the Year (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/01/16/firearms-associations-claim-obama-drove-surge-gun-sales/)....give him more time, I'm sure we'll eventually rename a State after him.

Anyone else disappointed by Obama's speech? I thought it was uninspiring and said nothing we haven't heard before.

The expectations were pretty absurd. While no one knew exactly what they wanted to hear, they wanted to hear it and then immediately proclaim "That's even better than the Gettysburg Address."

As someone from Gettysburg, I can tell you that the people who heard the original (and there weren't many, a lot less than two million or whatever) didn't immediately turn to each other and proclaim, "we've just witnessed the greatest speech in American History!" I guess my point being we need some time for perspective.

I thought Obama's speech was solid, appropriately cognizant of the difficulty the country is facing, with just enough uplift to leave us not feeling hopeless.

I think if Obama goes onto be a great president, we'll go back and cherry pick lines from yesterday's speech and act like it was great and timeless all along. If he is mediocre, well, then his speech will fade into the ether like those of most of the presidents who came before him.
