Like said elsewhere this national recession is a real pisser. My only suggestion (since you asked) is to keep you're credit in good shape if it was already. Don't make any late pmts, etc etc even if you have to advance money on an LOC for a short time to pay bills, which I'd only suggest to somebody w/ good work history and by the sounds of it you def got skills bro. ... one more thing, don't tell your bank, crdt cards, etc you lost your job unless you're enrolled in one of the pmt protection plans. Slingin Sammy 33 01-28-2009, 09:56 PM I'm sorry to hear about your layoff. Push hard on expanding your own business and good things will happen. Good luck. redskinjim 01-29-2009, 11:07 AM i can see that this thing is only starting.YOU ARE NOT ALONE good luck and pray that we dont become a welfare state because the only people working will be govt jobs.private companys are getting hammerd big time i have many friends who have been laid off in the past MONTH !what the hell is going on? EternalEnigma21 01-29-2009, 11:23 AM wow... thanks to all the well wishers. I've put in several apps. I get to find out today whether or not i get unemployment, since i have other means of income. that should be fun. anyway best wishes to anyone else going through the bs. hopefully the ship will right itself before too long. saden1 01-29-2009, 11:44 AM Things are really bad, here to it all getting better. A Town In Crisis Video - CBSNews.com (http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4752321n) dmek25 01-29-2009, 12:22 PM i feel you E.E. my work(Alcoa) just laid off 13000 worldwide, and around 125 here where i work. while they haven't got to me yet, i wonder every day if im next. i look thru the want ads, the page or two that there is, there is hardly anything in them. and the jobs that are offered, are $10../ hour. i often wonder how the kids of today are going to be able to make it. stay strong, and keep on plugging GTripp0012 01-29-2009, 06:40 PM A lot of people are being asked to redefine themselves in these times. I consider myself exceptionally lucky that I get to define myself for the first time as these times happen. If this happens three years later, it might have been too late for me to get on a more sustainable track in the job market. Things in Michigan really, really suck right now, but I'm lucky to not be rooted to this place. I'd like to stay, and plan on jumping into the next promising industry that hits this place, which doesn't figure to be the Lions. Hopefully, I can just be GM of the Redskins. That position has plenty of job security, I hear. firstdown 01-29-2009, 11:08 PM Keep your head up and start looking for a job. My buddy got laid off by Ford and has found two good paying jobs. The reason I said two is because he got laid off from the first place he found work. People are hiring you just have to look. Dirtbag59 01-30-2009, 05:23 AM It is better to lay people off on a Friday. Studies show there is less chance of an incident if you do it before a weekend. Anyway sorry to hear that you got laid off. My Dad recently got laid off and though he'll get back on his feet it was a hell of a gut check to see a guy like my Dad get let go. |
