I'm just not a fan of this idea. The fact that Marcus was covering Witten one on one means that we had some asinine blitz call on, and the gamble was that Witten wouldn't release. Even Blache knows that's a huge mismatch.

Giving credit where it is due though, the Horton INT in that game was Blache's best call of the season.

Anyway, Marcus only really fits in our defense on the Strong Side. If he's man covering anybody, it should be the fullback. Flat zone coverage, or let him get after the QB all the way.

I don't break down film to know why our SLB gets stuck in coverage, but it does seem to happen more at this position than both MLB and WLB. Basically my reasoning for switching Marcus, whether we kept him another year or not, was to avoid those situations. Also like I said elsewhere Rocky, from what little i've noticed, seems to do well in coverage (however he struggles in brute strength run stopping where Marcus is still effective). Anyway that's the idea behind swapping our guys... btw if Marcus is only suited for SLB i don't think he should be brought back cuz he's not effective there any longer. I still think he could be a force at ILB in a 3-4 system...

Marcus could have a great season at WLB and I hope that's what Blache has in mind... if he agrees to return on the predication he starts at SLB we're in a bit of trouble. I can just hear Aikman's voice "Joe it really looks like Marcus Washington has lost another step and yet the Redskins still have him trying to cover Witten. It's just not fair to a guy..."

The funny thing is that I heard Aikman's voice in my head as I was reading that. Freaky!

He's 31. I doubt he's done.

Its not about age, its about performance...could he start? sure...should he? thats a different question. He is also having injury issues.
He hasn't broken 50 tackles in 2 years, he used to be in the 100+ area.
So, is he done in terms of career? no...but...are his days numbered as a starter...yes.
Could his performance be replaced by a 3rd round LB....possibly...and that should tell you something...
He aint a probowler anymore...not even close

Ok, so whats taking the team so long to pick up Daniels and Wynn? Did they low ball them and they are thinking about it? We heard about the team talking with them long before Doughty and Fincher.

I don't think we're lowballing Wynn. No one else is interested in him apparently. I think Daniels is probably using interest from Denver/Tennessee to squeeze out more dollars. Wherever he signs, it's most likely going to be his last NFL contract. I imagine whatever impasse exists right now, it's strictly over money.

Maybe we're waiting to see if we end up with Daniels before we make a move on Wynn?

another point regarding Daniels...he can play inside and due to the fact the the Skins haven't re-signed Montgomery or Golson yet...that could be a factor.

we've tendered montgommery and Golston and we still have Alexander. At this point, I dont think we have a need for Daniels on the inside.

That was my understanding. They are ours but if they get a better offer elswhere we can either match it or let them go and take the draft pick.

So basically everyone is toe tapping waiting for what the other is going to do. Wynn maybe waiting to see what Daniels is going to do. Daniels is waiting to see what Wynn will do. and the Skins are waiting for what both are going to do. I didn't think Wynn was getting any nibbles which is why he was interested in coming back to us especially if Daniels was coming back.
