The Denver Broncos were fined $950,000 and will lose thier 3rd round draft pick :Flush: in next years draft for circumventing the salary cap between 1996 and 1998. The violations included agreements between the Broncos and several players to defer salary payments with interest and agreement not to wavie a player before a certain date. Both raised issues with accounting for the salary cap. Along with the team penalties the NFL said an agent for a former player agreed to donate $100,000 to a charity. Neither player or agent was identified.

I was thinking how many other teams could be pushing this line?

shanahan does the GM work and the coaching right? that makes it much easier for him to ask favors from his players... thats really not a huge punishment though, and there still may be violations happening.

I have to agree. A third rounder for violating rules of the salary cap seems light.
Although the success the Broncos have had drafting runningbacks in the late rounds, it might have cost them a future probowl runningback.

You call that hard? I'm sorry but they should have lost at least two first round picks. The NFL should have made an example of them.

One can only imagine if this happened to Snyder, he'd be getting ripped a new on by the media. Meanwhile this news has sailed under the radar for the most part.

such crap, you KNOW if danny did that and got caught, he'd lose all his draft picks for about 17 years... not that it'd really matter ;)

He'd be a distant second to Jerry Jones if both violated the rule
