I found it interesting that most cell phones that are broken are lost in water. Toilets mainly. The iPhone has something inside that says if it has been damaged by water and you can't claim insurance/etc on it.

DoggDayAfternoon 04-28-2009, 12:51 PM Would I need to prove to them that it doesn't work? Should I break it? LOL No don't even go to that extreme. Phone companys are the biggest lay downs in the sales world. eligible or not you can get them to upgrade for you. They'll put up a fight at first but if you threaten to go to another carrier and pay you early termination they'll hook it up for you. When I was with US Cellular they would do anything possible to keep me happy when I complained about my bills. (Even though it was usually my fault for going over.) I with AT&T now and have an Iphone 3G and absolutely love it. I cant see myself ever going back to a regular phone. If you haven't messed around with one yet I'd recommend going to a local Best Buy or AT&T store and play with one for a while. MTK 04-28-2009, 01:37 PM Well I got denied. I was told I couldn't even pay full price, I had to pay the no conrtact price which is something insane like $499. I'm not much of a hagler so I just said whatever and left. I'll try another store. Hog1 04-28-2009, 01:44 PM I heard they are trying to clear out inventory for the expected new model coming out later this summer, so I figure that may work in my favor too. I'm going to stop by a store later today and see what happens. If you are curently not under contract, or it will be expiring soon, and you have no desire for a new one. Check out the phones on Ebay. It may be a pretty good deal to buy your own phone outright and swap the sim card. (you would have to see if the I-phone is that simple, I do not know) That way, if they piss you off, or your heart wanders to another suitor......you can go anytime...... I'm thinking about buying a new phone myself, but cannot decide? Alas... saden1 04-28-2009, 01:47 PM Well I got denied. No surprise, they don't give a shit about you. Why should they? You're already under contract. I highly doubt you'll have better luck at another store. MTK 04-28-2009, 01:54 PM I figured someone who is ready to drop a few bills along with a more expensive contract might get some attention. Rajmahal33 04-28-2009, 01:55 PM Matty, lemme just say first that getting an iphone would be the best decision you would ever make. You MUST at some point get one! I understand you don't wanna play full price, so a possible alternative might be to switch providers. There are a lotta rumors circulating that Verizon is going to get a version of the iphone for the CDMA network. There was this report from USA today yesterday... AFP: Verizon, Apple discussing iPhone: USA Today (http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5izDSiVJrzG1u9lNnvuBuP5zjU4Ew) I don't what you think of AT&T but the only reason i switched from Verizon (after many years) was because of the iphone. Otherwise, i loved their service. saden1 04-28-2009, 02:05 PM I figured someone who is ready to drop a few bills along with a more expensive contract might get some attention. One would think. This isn't just an ATT problem either, it's with all carries. I'm thinking about buying a new phone myself, but cannot decide? Alas... Ebay, Craigslist also. But if you did haggle you would've came up with something. BTW Best Buy did me well on my sprint touch. The store wanted to charge me 100 more with the upgrade. I went to Best Buy bought the phone for 100 less plus i got a Sprint gift card for 75 bucks..Key is to haggle..lol |
