The Michael Jackson thread is closed, so on the topic of dead celebrities, this is most definitely a very interesting article written by a guy who was in Jackson's inner circle for years. Sadly, it sounds like the Nation of Islam and that douche Farrakahn got their hands on his affairs pushed him quite literally to death.

Billy Mays is the only of these latest celebrity deaths that really was sad to hear about. He was actually a great person.

My son (19 months) loved when his commercials came on. He'd stop whatever he was doing to watch.

With his show he gained my respect and it seemed he really cared to help people. Before his show I figured he would sell any kind of junk if he could make money but from watching his show it seem he really believed in the products he sold. Funny how kids pick up on some things and I bet it was his loud voice that caut his attention.

Not only did he believe in his products but he really cared for others as you said. I saw one episode where he was pitching his buddy's product who was a former pitchman( couldn't pitch anymore because of being disabled). His human side really showed.

The other guy, Sully(sp) comes off as a real ass.

Billy Mays was absolutely a great person. But how do you know the others weren't? We'll leave MJ out of this discussion but he's understandably a polarizing figure. But who's to say Ed McMahon or Farrah Fawcett weren't good people too.

I saw that and in another episode he waved his fee because the guy was out of money trying to get his product to market.

I'll bet none of you know Gail Storm, a "B" movie actress who also died last week. However, she was 89 so I can't see anything odd about her death except that it dcame at a time when so many other celebrities also died.

Gail Storm was also a singer who recorded several oldies (real oldies) such as "Come down from your Ivory Tower." Who can remember that song?

What about Karl Malden? Think he was like 97 though

Last night the DC had a show devoted to Billy and he really did seem like a great man. After he made his money it seemed he turned his focus to helping others.

Anyone else find it a little strange that they're still using Billy's commercials? I understand why they do it, but I just find it odd.
