JC isn't bringing it up, he's being asked about it in interviews and probably will all season until he's either outta here or has a new deal.

I think he's demonstrated that he handled it like a true pro and has moved on. That doesn't mean he needs to shy away from any questions about it.

the media is always going to bring up what happened during the off season. that's their job, to try and stir shit up. jc has handled it with class and i'm glad he's still our qb. but now is the time to not talk about the past and talk about the upcoming season. he could just say, "i'm not talking about that anymore". i just thought the timing was bad.

Excellent point, and 100% correct. There's a huge difference between Matt Ryan -- the first rookie quarterback to make a significant impact in recent memory, and Joe Flacco, who could have been ANYONE last year.

Flacco might very well improve. But age of the prospect aside, if you are given one quarterback between Flacco and Campbell to win over the next five years, Campbell is the proven one.

Ryan is a different story. He's unproven from a experience standpoint, but he was legitimately great last year.

I hate the Ravens with a passion, but Flacco was throwing bombs left and right at the end of last season, even when protection broke down. It seemed like every time he dropped back, the ball was going at least 20 yards downfield, and he didn't need receivers to be "open". He may prove me wrong, but I think he's legit, with or without Mason.

After reading the article in SI, I have two thoughts:

-Is Dan saying that he wishes Jason to do good, just so that he sounds like he wants Jason there, or is he saying that just to make us think that he cares.

-Zorn brings up a great point of showing a frame by frame view of Flacco and Campbell dropping back and how Flacco's line allowed a few frames more of protection time, whereas Campbell's protection broke down a lot quicker. So for all doubters, put some better OLineman there before we fully judge Campbell.

I am hoping Campbell will bring his game to a new level this year and he will lead us on to the promise land. Things are looking up :)

I think he's saying it because he wants a franchise QB no matter who it is. I think he'd like to see JC become that for the sake of the team.

Read the article at the barber shop yesterday while waiting for some picky metrosexual guy to get his sideburns adjusted "just right" for about 10 minutes. Good read.

Great to see players from my two favorite teams on the cover on consecutive weeks. Buehrle and Campbell. :)

Does anyone know if there is a way to order 1 issue of S.I? I live in Japan, and I don't think I can get a copy on base, much less somewhere off-base. I'd like to have this one for a while, I like JC, regaurdless how this year plays out.

Honestly, I'd try e-Bay or Amazon.

They're not on e-Bay yet, only refrigerator magnets of the cover...but there's some on Amazon:

Amazon.com: Sports Illustrated, August 10, 2009-Jason Campbell-Washington Redskins. Fantasy Draft Guide.: August 10, 2009-Jason Campbell-Washington Redskins. Fantasy Draft Guide. Sports Illustrated: Books

edit: Actually, found some on E-Bay now. First I searched for Jason Campbell SI and got the magnets, but if you type in "Sports Illustrated, August 10, 2009" you get some:
Sports Illustrated, August 10, 2009, great deals on on eBay! (http://ads.auctionads.com/pagead/link_01d67bfbc8fb66580829__http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=Sports+Illustrated%2C+August+10%2C+2009&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=50)

Good luck.

Man, the curse of SI.

Stuck here on a flight delay, I'd rather look at the glass half full. I think it's called karma these days.
