I had ADD when I was young. My mother slapped me in the mouth a few times and I was cured, free of charge.
I'm not a doctor so this is just my opinion. I think all of these diseases and disorders are popping up so drug companies can sell psychiatric drugs. When I was young we didn't have all of these drugs on television. If we wanted a drug we'd roll it or pull a cork.
I think these drugs legitimately help some people. They are necessary and work. But I think there are a lot more people on them than really need them. The diagnosis becomes an excuse for poor behavior.

I know a girl who's son I can say really needs the drugs because he is all over the place all the time. With that said when I was in a custody battle they tried to say my daughter had ADHD and I could not fiigure out how they came up with that. The point they wanted to make is that I was a bad parent who did not pick up on this thus the mother was a better parent. Well after all was said and done the info they got from her mother was not the child that lived under my roof. So the only two things I could figure is either the mother lied or she was just a bad parent who had no control. These drugs they give kids is just crazy and studies show if you give these drugs to the best of kids it will still changes their behavor even if they where not needed. Personally I think alot of the problem stems back to the parents in alot of cases as they cannot control or do not take the time to work with their children. Its a plus for the school system as it makes life that much easier to have a bunch of druged up kids that are easier to take care of and the same goes for the parents. The drugs now take the place old discipline and the kids never learn how to deal with stuff in the real world. Whats going to be the effect on these kids as they grow up?

Doctors are way too quick to write a Rx these days when other forms of treatment and therapy would be more effective.

I've often wondered if I have ADD. I notice especially when I'm reading. Who else has this problem:
You'll be reading, but then your mind inadvertenly wanders and you discover you're thinking about other things while your eyes continue to follow the words. Then you snap out of it, and have to restart the sentence or paragraph. Anybody else experience that?

Sorry, would have responded sooner but had to reread the paragraph several times.
No. This has never happened to me.
