I think it was dirty, he went right at the knees, basically exposing his rib that was "cracked".
I think Favre was just ticked to be in a Wildcat formation and took the opportunity to vent.
Farve isn't even looking at him when the block is delivered.
I think this is being blown out of proportion just like everything with Favre.

You want to see a dirty shot...and if your stomach can handle it (warning: it's really gross). Do a YouTube search for Axel Witsel
Wow, that was really gnarly. Ick. That thing snapped like a twig.

I wonder if this had been Tom Brady throwing the block, if the refs would have called the penalty on the guy being blocked.

They would have thrown a flag on the defender for making illegal contact with Brady.

Correct me, if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can block a guy at the waist or below *just like Favre did* as long as you're in front of him. The flag wasn't for any "dirty" or illegal block. The flag was for this:
Crackback: Eligible receivers who take or move to a position more than two yards outside the tackle may not block an opponent below the waist if they then move back inside to block.

It doesn't matter if Favre was in front of him or not, you can't block below the waist period if you are an eligible receiver more than two yards outside the tackle.
The flag was for a crackback, which is an illegal block.

Right -- legal block in any other situation. How then could it be dirty?

I see now that I said the flag wasn't for any "illegal block". What I meant was that the flag wasn't for his blocking technique -- just a technicality really.
It wasn't dirty to me.
For it to be dirty, I think there needs to be some sort of intent to injure. I don't see why Favre would be intentionally trying to injure anyone.
