Redskin Warrior 10-10-2009, 04:46 PM How do you fix a running back that is past his prime, isnt fast, and trips when wide open like the OP stated. Also maybe because of his previous ballhandling problems, he runs fulltime with both hands on the ball. He might not fumble much anymore but it decreases his breaking tackles.
As much as i dislike JC, i hope we use first pick for OL. Landry can improve and is still young, on the fence about seeing what we can get for him.
With the skins it's hard to tell the play calling is so predictable it's a shame. We always motion to the side we run the ball too and we rarely of any run the ball to the right side. So i believe until we get some good o-line talent you can't tell with Portis just yet.

I agree with most you said, but its plain fact this season that when he has a hole he cant get through. And this might sound crazy, but now the way he runs with both arms wrapped around the football is why he always seems to be off balance. Call me crazy he just not running right.
dmvskinzfan08 10-10-2009, 05:20 PM Betts, Rock, Daniels, Smoot, Collins
Betts not productive anymore. Will probably be 31 next year.
Rock is not a difference maker will be 31 next year. DT can take his place.
Daniels getting old. Need to let some young guys get a chance so we can build our D-line for the future.
Smoot - If Barnes and Tryon develop. He is on the decline.
Collins - Old - If we get rid of him we could sign JC as a backup (why? it will be a uncapped seson - depends on if we are still running the WCO and how he does the rest of the year) and bring in or draft another QB and have Colt as the 3rd QB.
Redskin Warrior 10-10-2009, 05:22 PM And without the physical tools that Jason Campbell had, he found a way to make this team a passing threat. Just because he was in the system for so long ? He had the same O-Line that JC couldn't play behind, the same receiviers that JC had, but he was successful. Defenses, especially the defenses that we played toward the end of that year counldn't take advantage of him.
How would it take the average QB to master a 700 page playbook? Answer is years and TC was in that system in KC for years. C'mon man you know as well as i know that the playbook expand when he came in for those 4 games. So that made a big difference Saunders had more confidence in him because he spent more time in his system than JC. I don't think folks really understand how hard it is to be a NFL QB. Moreless, a NFL QB that changes systems every year or so. Imagine have to learn the position of QB and a whole new system at once repeatedly. The growing pains for that individual is a lot longer then others. Stability is the key to success in running an organization which we haven't that the last pass 10 year.

Your right and they wont ever understand it and they don't want to understand it. Remember JC is the worst QB ever..lol [end sarcasm]
He is not the best QB but he isn't Heath Shuler!! I remember someone saying no one will sign him. I would put money that someone will. Whether he gets the starting job or not who knows. But he is no Ryan Leaf or Jamarcus Russell that's for sure. Radiers would snatch him up in a heartbeat and some other teams. But people love to hate JC for some reason. I could understand if he was absolutely horrible and a asshole. But he is neither one of those.

yeah i don't how much those bone spurs have to do with it. especially with them bringing in so many RB's to workout and all. I do agree he has lost something not sure if he has lost everything yet.
RedskinMike 10-10-2009, 05:33 PM i need we need to clear our cap in 2010. With the new cba that will be in place after 2010 it will be harder to have big numbers on the contract. Being an uncapped year, it will be best to do it this year. I am not stupid and know next to none of this will actually happen, but if we we can for cap reasons trade haynesworth (and maybe hall, but I think he might be too important to get rid of) and get rid of portis I think it will be extremely beneficial. I think we need to scrap our team and start anew. I think we need to draft a qb next year and get rid of campbell. I think our team is a joke as it is, and we need to start over which we won't be able to do unless we free up some cap space. This is because we don't have enough young talent to build purely through the draft, so we will need to pick up some key (young) free agents to help us along.
Trade Haynesworth??? Not gonna happen. Its not like he is playing bad. Dan would still have to pay all the guaranteed money and he wouldn't do that. I also think if next year is uncapped I think his contract was done so a lot of the cap hit would be absorbed next year.

Trade Haynesworth? That's like saying trade Cooley. Come on, you wanna dump our $100 million investment that fast? Absolutely not.
TheMalcolmConnection 10-10-2009, 06:30 PM For all the people calling for Campbell to go and draft another QB... is he the problem with the offense? I'm not someone who's on his bandwagon, but I surely don't want to see him gone considering he's going to be better than most rookies and a lot of starting QBs currently.
For those wanting him gone, which presumably would mean we're drafting QB with our first pick and ignoring OL AGAIN, would Peyton Manning or Tom Brady have made us competitive? I really don't think so. It's in the trenches where the problems lie (at least on the offensive side of the ball) and that's what needs to be addressed. Basically, I'd just want to get rid of some veterans on the defensive side of the ball who aren't the same as they used to be.
