Im on board with the group that wants to trade Cooley, we really need draft picks and I don't think a 2nd plus 3rd rounder is asking too much for him. I have been one of JC's biggest supporters but I think 5 years is enough, you can only have so much of a window to succeed with a team and I think that window is closing fast. Moss is audi 5000, along with Devin. Keep Mitchell and Kelly and try to bring in a low priced veteran to even out the group.
O line, with the exception of dock and levi, no one on that line should be starting, Mike Williams should be cut, Heyer is a second maybe third string at best, Rabach is a back up, Rhinehart is a backup. I AM SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED BY BUGEL, HE HAS NOT DEVELOPED A SINGLE GOOD OFFENSIVE LINEMAN IN HIS TIME HERE AND I THINK HE SHOULD BE FIRED AS WELL

It's so early for this without know who is going to be running things and what system we will be running.. The only thing I'd like to see regardless is that we get younger by moving on from Daniels, Wynn, R. Thomas and we need to start thinking about a replacement for Fletcher in next year's draft.

I think as a fan board, it's obviously what fans like to do. But you are absolutely right, lets get a solid GM in, let him choose the HC and player personnel staff. Hopefully that can be done quickly following the end of the season. and we can be trading players for picks, avoid overspending on the first day of free agency and have a solid draft. I would be one happy lemming.

I would have to let portis go because he doesn't practice and seems to be a disruption to the team chemistry.

why are you still so bitter, and it is a fan board, thats why it was asked to the fans on this board, who would you like to see stay and go? and consequently people gave their opinions

Roster Moves if I were GM!...and I trusted my scouting department.

QB- Brennan and Collins will compete to determine who stays. Either way I would look to draft a franchise signal caller (if, after a full draft process evaluation, one warrants that pick).

HB- Trade CP for any pick we could get (probably 3rd or 4th). Cut Betts & Cartwright. Pick up either Jerious Norwood or Lendale White in FA (if they become available and are cost effective, no big deals) or draft a RB in the mid rounds.

WR- Keep Moss, Thomas, Kelly & Mitchell. If no takers in trade for ARE, cut him. Get add'l depth player in FA.

TE- Stand pat with Cooley, Davis & Yoder (unless younger blocking TE is available in FA or later rounds).

OL- Starters= Dock & Rabach (don't like him, but may be hard to replace him this year short of a miracle or Edwin Willams progressing). Draft LT in early first (if not high on a particular QB) or late first (trading back in) or early second. Keep Levi depending on his performance this year. Montgomery & Williams for depth NOT STARTERS. Target RT with 3rd round pick (from Portis deal if applicable) or 4th round. Get RG in FA cause Rhinehart looks like a bust. FA's for depth. BTW- heyer sux.

DL- I'm pleased with the roster here but may move Griffin out and put Golston/Alexander in to fill. Drop Montgomery. FA or late round for depth. Jarmon to replace retiring Daniels.

LB- Keep McIntosh at the Will, Orakpo at the Sam, If replacement for London at Mike becomes available then replace him (not the highest priority).

S- No complaints here. Although if a true FS becomes available get him and move Landry back to SS.

CB- If uncapped year, trade Rogers for value. If capped year, franchise him and trade for value (1st or 2nd round either way...yes, some team will pay). Keep Hall, Tryon & Barnes. Drop Smoot and Westbrook. Fill starting spot opposite Hall via FA.

Coaching Staff- Fire everyone! Allow new coach to pick his staff although I would see if he would want to retain Jerry Gray to run the defense. I lean toward Russ Grimm (look at his work with the Steelers and recently with the Cards) or another up and coming Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach. Re-tread SB coaches would not be ideal as this normally does not work.

*I actually belive that with shrewd moves, proper scouting and a changing of the guard in terms of our core players....we are a couple years away from being a perenniel playoff team.

Why would you wanna keep Orakpo at LB? It's so obvious that is a mistake it isn't even funny anymore. If we do nothing else move Orakpo back to full-time defensive end. He could be a Freeney esque player.

My choices to keep would be:

Campbell
D. Thomas
M. Kelly
M. Mitchell
Fred Davis
Cooley
Heyer
Rinehart
Doc
Samuels (if he wants to return, but would prefer if he retires for both, his and Redskins' sakes)
Moss
Betts
Levi Jones (only if he performs well this season, but he should not expect to be starter unless he can beat out rookies or FAs)
E. Williams
Colt (only if he wins the competition against FAs and/or FA rookies)

Orakpo
Haynesworth
Jarmon
Wilson
Fletcher (I would want to keep him for one more year, just until we can find his replacement)
Blades
C. Rogers
Hall (maybe just until we can find his replacement)
Carter
Landry
Horton
Doughty
Moore (for all safeties, I would try to sign some FAs to compete for the spot, whoever is best wins)
Golston
Griffin (I know he's old, but we can't really expect to fill in all positions within one off-season; beside Griffin still has some left in tank, especially with Haynesworth beside him)
L. Alexander
Rocky McIntosh
Kevin Barnes
Tryon (maybe)

I look at "who to keep and who to let go" a little differently. First of all, contracts dictate a lot of potential moves, so financially it might not make good sense to move players that are under performing. Most of the problems with the Redskins stem around the fact that other teams are more athletic, faster, stronger and younger. These problems cannot be fixed overnight. The bright side is all these attributes tend to go together. Younger more skilled players tend to be more athletic, faster and stronger. To me, its a matter of attrition. Look to move the older players or allow their contracts to expire. Make an effort to get quality backups for the aging players that you decide to keep. Here is my list of aging players that need to be replaced or need quality competition.

Ethan Albright
Jason Campbell
Todd Collins
Phillip Daniels
London Fletcher
Cornelius Griffin
Santana Moss
Clinton Portis
Casey Rabach
Antwaan Randle El
Chris Samuels
Mike Sellers
Hunter Smith
Fred Smoot
Randy Thomas
Renaldo Wynn

I like that Vick under an new head coach, and Tebow learning for two years, with Sproles, the WR core and TE core, a new OL.... if we got these guys and wasnt a playoff team the next year, i donate a month check to a charity of the warpath choice........ I think in the draft i have to go after C.J. Spiller in the draft if he is available late 1st or 2nd round, Spiller, Sproles.... i keep Rock, cut Betts..... sign Vick to a two year deal.... opt. second year. I like this team alreadyI like it as well, but in the "this is a really terrible idea, I'm glad someone had the balls to suggest it" kind of way.

I actually think Tebow could work here, but let's put it this way: the man is going to come out with more than 40 college starts plus significant package time as a true freshman. If he needs to go to the bench for any length of time, you're not getting anything from him.

And because you're rebuilding, you wouldn't draft him to be a package player. Either you think he can be an every down quarterback who uses the pocket well enough to compensate for a slow release, or he isn't. No wildcat crap.

Hmmm. I would keep:

Doughty, Orakpo, Horton, Montgomery, Golston, Haynesworth, Fletcher, Jarmon, Wilson, Blades, McIntosh, and Moore on D.

Mitchell, Rabach, Dockery, Cooley, Cartwright, and Campbell on O.

Those are just my preferences. They may not be realistic.

I wouldn't rule out trading anyone for O-lineman or draft picks.

Oh yeah, I forgot the Redsnapper and Hunter.
