What the hell did Peter King or Paul Zimmerman ever do to deserve to keep someone like that out of the hall of fame. Fire both those assclowns, cause its a freaking sin that this guy isnt in.

I don't know if Irvin is a first ballot HOFer, but there's probably no way he doesn't get in soon.

Monk probably won't make it. Teams never feared Monk, or tried to take him out of the gameplan. He quietly moved the chains and was an integral part of our SB successes but the more dangerous receivers always lined up opposite Monk, like Gary Clark or Charlie Brown. He was extremely solid, definitely a great Redskin, but if you go by stats or reputation Monk is just not quite there. I don't think it's going to happen for Monk, he was just never the driving force for us on offense, but that's not to minimize his contribution to the Redskins because the guy was fantastic for us. But if he played for any other team would we even know who he was? Quiet, unassuming, dependable but where did he stand out?

When DG comes up next year he's a first ballot HOFer. Monk, he may get in eventually but I wouldn't count on it.

Monk may not have ben a driving force like you state above and Deffenses may not have to game plan just for him. But IMO when people are elected into the HOF I think that stats and how they effected the game should be taken into consideration.

Now some may wonder how Art Monk changed the game of football. It can be clearly seen that he was a prototype WR of todays bigger and stronger recievers. I mean look at Art Monks Height, 6'3" and Weight, 210 lbs. Now look at the top recievers in the leage today, Terrel Owens - Height - 6'3', Weight - 226lbs. Randy Moss - Height 6'4" Weight - 210.

I guess what I am trying to say is that Art Monk was a reciever before his time. I know that Owens and Moss will probably exceed Monks career but at the time that Art Monk played not every Wide out was built like him. Now just about every reciever in the leauge is almost molded like him. IMO Art Monk not only was a Redskin great, he also helped the progression of the game and the Wide Reciver position.

If loud mouth coke head Michael Irvin gets in, it is a travesty!!!!! Art Monk should be in years before him!!
As for Jerry Rice wearing Largents retired number 80, the newspaper said Rice personally called Largent and asked if he would un-retire the number so Rice could wear it and Largent agreed.

Maybe because Art was quiet and didn't run his mouth to attract attention to himself is why HOF voters haven't voted him in.Art was a true pofessional on and off the field, except maybe his unwillingness to talk to reporters.I think he just didn't like the attention and was happy just going about doing his job.If you ever needed a first down,he was your man.He loved that out route.I agree with many others on this subject that his induction is long overdue. But again there's so many good first year nominees,it will hurt his chances again.Keep the faith everyone!Art can't go unnoticed forever.(hopefully)
