they were just talking about the new candidates for the Hall Of Fame & said that Art Monk should already be in.

As you can see from my signature I am an Art Monk fan. I hope the HOF voters consider class, dignity, and work ethic when casting their ballots.

We already know 3 ballots will be shoe-ins...Dan Marino and Steve Young, plus one "old timer"....it will kill my soul in Michael "Durg Store Cowboy" Irvin makes it in before Monk ...................

This is pretty werid if you ask me, Art Monk was with the redskins from 1980-1993. I may be wrong but wasn't Norv Turner in his first year as a head coach when we let Monk go? Fastforward to the present and Norv is out in Oakland and look who gets let go, Jerry Rice another vet from the 80's. I am begining to think that Norv doesnt like the older proven recievers and wants young talent of which he can not find if his life depended on it.

No, Monk was let go when Richie Petibone was the HC.

The guy held a couple records when he retired! No reason why he shouldn't be in the HOF.

OT: Anyone else notice they let Jerry Rice have Steve Largent's #80?

I thought it was very unclassy for Rice to ask for a number that had already been retired. Steve Largen showed class by giving it up. I think Rice needs to hang it up...............

The story I heard was Monk and Jack Kent Cooke had a falling out.......and that's why he ended up going to the Jets.....BTW this question came up before if a player played for multiple teams it is the inductee's choice to chose what team he goes under in the HOF, or does the hall assign the team where the player played the longest....or the last?

It is a travesty that he is not in the HOF. I for my life don't understand why there is even a discussion about it. Anyone who can look at his career know he should have been a first ballot HOF. When he retired he was arguably the second best reciever in history. Of course since then he has been passed by on multiple records but this is a different era. It is shameful that he is not in and it is shameful that no one will make a big deal out of it.

WITH LOTS OF SARCASM.....
He's not flashy enough, he has good moral character, and isn't self promoting...................just too classy, blue collar, and too quiet.......

HAIL TO ART MONK!!!!!!

Monk has more catches than Largent.Somebody should be asking HOF Art if they can use his jersey number.

I had an arguement with a Boys fan about how Art Monk should go to the HOF before Irvin. He said Monk barely had better stats then Irvin and it was due to because he was in the league for a long time. I mentioned that Irvin was the only receiver the Boys had. Behind Irvin, the #2 and 3 guys in receptions was TE Novacek and RB E. Smith.
