I agree...Allen should be here for a reason.

Enough of this Democratic tiebreaker BS. Someone needs to be the definitive personnel selection person and it shouldn't be Shanny. Have Allen hire a VP of Player Personnel or Ops to assist him.

It's the Redskins that deal with the team that Shanny leaves when he's gone. We need to have a stable and uniform direction if he is to leave our team or not sign again after 5 years. Have Allen and hired assistant take care of our personnel. Shanny needs to write an anti-owner influence clause and call it a day.

I dont know how to feel about this.It kinda seems like we still have a puppet GM if Shanahan has final say on everything.I dont have the info to back it up,I have a good friend in Denver that says Shanahans personel moves were terrible, great coach, terrible talent evaluator.Didnt Shanny spend a high draft pick on that loser RB,cant remember his name.I want Shanny as the coach, not the final say soer

This is all you need to know....

Kyle Shanahan 2008 season:
Shanahan’s first year as coordinator was an overwhelming success, as the offense ranked third in the NFL, gaining a franchise-record 6,113 yards and passing for a franchise-record 4,267 yards. The offense was equally adept on the ground, running for 1,846 yards at a team-record 4.3-yard clip. Shanahan helped a pair of players earn Pro Bowl nods, with wide receiver Andre Johnson making his third career trip and tight end Owen Daniels making his first.

2009 season:
2009 was a record breaking season for quarterback Matt Schaub (http://www.thewarpath.net/wiki/Matt_Schaub), finishing with 4,770 passing yards, the 6th most in a single season in NFL history, and a career high season passer rating of 98.6. On the other side of the ball, wide receiver Andre Johnson (http://www.thewarpath.net/wiki/Andre_Johnson) had another extraordinary season with 1,569 receiving yards over 101 receptions.

Mike Shanahan:

Shanahan is known for a run-heavy variation of the West Coast offense he coached in San Francisco. He has often found unheralded running backs (http://www.thewarpath.net/wiki/Running_back) from later rounds of the annual NFL Draft (http://www.thewarpath.net/wiki/NFL_Draft) and then turned them into league-leading rushers behind small-but-powerful offensive lines. Examples of this phenomenon are Terrell Davis (http://www.thewarpath.net/wiki/Terrell_Davis), Mike Anderson (http://www.thewarpath.net/wiki/Mike_Anderson), Olandis Gary (http://www.thewarpath.net/wiki/Olandis_Gary), Clinton Portis (http://www.thewarpath.net/wiki/Clinton_Portis), Reuben Droughns (http://www.thewarpath.net/wiki/Reuben_Droughns) and Tatum Bell (http://www.thewarpath.net/wiki/Tatum_Bell), all of whom have had at least one 1,000-yard season in a Denver uniform over the past 10 years.

I'm excited to see what they put together and how well the system runs next year.

that doesnt tell me anything,I dont know what Kyle has to do with what I said about his father.
What would help is a list of the players drafted and free agents and trades made while Shanny was in charge in Denver.
Also while Shanny might have drafted those rbs,Ive always heard most of the credit for their success given to their blocking schemes and the off line coach they used to have

Shanny also famously acquired the entire Browns defensive line. Transplanted it from Cleveland to Denver. And, with guys like Michael Myers, it wasn't that great of a defensive line.

Isn't this just the 'see what people have done in the past and expect the same result in the future'?

Kind of like bringing back Gibbs, Joe Bugel, The Smurfs #2, Wanting Russ Grimm as coach.

I'm glad these guys had successes where they were but that doesn't translate piece by piece to our team. They have completely different variables here then they had at their respective places.

...The same result or pattern will not translate piece by piece to our situation in Washington. Eventually one has to work with the independent variables or available resources in front of them.

Meh, anything is better than Zorn but I'm not totally sold on Shanahan. You just have to wonder if he is capable of winning especially after 3 consecutive mediocre seasons. God help us all.

I guess some ppl ( skinnytee) would think hiring Jesus himself would be a bad hire lol Seriously man this is shanny's team, Allen will also have his say in every matter.. What would make you happy? I guess some people will never be satisfied..
