Honestly, I think that's what causes a lot of the problems on the road. People are so oblivious in their own little world that they don't realize what's going on around them. They don't realize that they should be in another lane, they don't realize that they're going twenty miles too fast or too slow, they don't realize they're weaving in and out of traffic. All they care about is their world and how fast they can get where THEY need to go.

Driving is an active thing, and the more I have been driving lately, I just feel like people are too consumed in themselves and either don't think or don't care about the laws of the road.

I meant that worry about your own driving, meaning be safe and see your surroundings and react accordingly. Not get in your car and put horse blinders on.

The fact that you guys think playing these retarded games is somehow making the roads safer than letting one car speed is so ass-backwards it's staggering.

Actually I was pretty much joking and only do that every once in a while. I mainly drive in the right lane and use the left lane to pass other cars. Now on occassion I get that a$$ who runs up on me while I'm passing cars on the left an they flick there lights like I don't know they are behind me. Those are the people I might do that to but its still very rare. The only time I really speed is when I'm on a long trip and then its usually to keep up with trafic. I find if you drive 65 on 95 you will get ran over.

This right here makes me want to get absolutely violent. Who the F are YOU to tell me to get over when I'm actually passing and you just want to go 100 mph?!!?

Yep, doing something like flicking your lights at someone is how you make an enemy on the road. Those who make an enemy out of me usually end up regretting flicking their lights, because they end up blocked for a lot longer than is worth flicking those lights.

They act like we're supposed to be scared of them or something. Instantly I drop speed by about 10-15 mph and do what you do. Make sure I inconvenience that as much as possible. Does it sound hypocritical? Sure.

If you're ever 3 feet off my bumper, I challenge you to get around me. It will take you half an hour to find a way.

It's called the shoulder and I will use it if your being a dick.

So do you feel entitled to get on someone's ass if say they're passing a row of slow moving traffic in the right lane at a decent speed? If I'm passing a row of slow cars going 75 in a 65 and you want to drive 85, does that mean you would get on my ass to pass them faster?

No I have patience enough to wait for guys that are legitimately passing slower traffic. Generally they are kind enough to move back to the right once thay have completed their pass. I show the same courtesy when I am passing in the left lane and someone want around me. I am not a cop and do not intend on regulating their speed. It is safer just to get out of their way. What pisses me off is when you are turtle racing with the cars next to you with no actual intention of passing them (as firstdown and Schneed were talking about) and they end up blocking all lanes. At that point my road rage kicks in and I feel entitled to do whatever I want...because they are doing whatever they want not by not taking others into consideration.

Then you're not the kind of driver I'd block on the roadway.

I only get into it with maniacs and guys going way faster than everyone else.

Schneed, at times I am going way faster than everyone else, but I do not drive like a maniac unless you tempt me as suggested in my previous post. 2/3 to 1/2 of my driving experience has been on the autobahn. I believe that you can drive fast without being an idiot. I myself do not weave in and out of traffic, and cannot stand it when others do, however when the coast is clear I will hammer the throttle to the point where I feel that I am at a comfortable cruising speed. That speed can meet or exceed 80MPH whenever I'm on the highway. I do not tailgate because I like a buffer for the speeds that I feel comfortable at.

For someone to say that they would intentionally block someone driving faster to make the roadway safer for others is counter productive in my mind. We have all gotten road rage made mistakes behind the wheel. To intentionally do that to someone is causing more harm than good. I understand that your intentions are to slow traffic down, but when you piss someone off, "reason" flies out the window; it is just safer to just let them pass.
