You just don't get it, when the Redskins are playing we root for them. When Dallas is playing we root for opponent. It's quite simple.
Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat WilliamsZerohero 01-19-2010, 01:25 PM You just don't get it, when the Redskins are playing we root for them. When Dallas is playing we root for opponent. It's quite simple. CrustyRedskin 01-19-2010, 01:28 PM Wow, you must be really starved for your fanhood. If your team cannot play well enough to satisfy your fandom that you have to take pleasure in a rival team losing a playoff game, then, I pity you. Gotta ask, who do you root harder for? The Redskins when they play? Or any team playing the Cowboys? If your answer is the later, then your fanhood is in real question. As it would seem that you would take more pleasure in seeing a certain team lose, more than seeing the Redskins win. And to even mention the words "humiliation, ineptitude and failure", your kidding right? Redskins resume' 36-44 in the last 5 years (.450) 1 season in the last 9 years with double digit wins 0 division championships in the past 9 years 2 playoff appearances in 10 years 1 playoff win in 10 years You wanna talk "humiliation, ineptitude and failure", look no further than Landover. MAke fun of Phillips all you want but facts are facts: Wade Phillips....lets see 3 years in Dallas: 33-15 regular season record (.686) 2 division championships in 3 years 2 playoff appearances in 3 years 1 playoff win in 3 years. Lost in Divisonal round in each playoff year. Thats 1 game away from the confernce championship if I am not mistaken. YOU WISH any Washington coach in the last decade had that on thier resume'. Charlie Waters - 41 even met him once, got an autograph. Had dinner with Tony Dorsett. Every team that does well has a certain number of bandwagoners. Like you for instance, you jumped on that Vikings bandwagon simply because of who they were playing. So whose bandwagon are you on this week? Saints? Jets? (No one knows if the Redskins have bandwagon fans, like I said, "teams that do well".) Well if a winning teams playoff loss in the divisional round takes your mind off of what your players, owner, a venerable BEVY of coaches, has done for the fan base for the past DECADE, well then I am happy for you. Did you have dinner with Swade Phillips?? Who ate the most? Did you go down on Tony Dorsett before or after dinner? BigHairedAristocrat 01-19-2010, 01:40 PM Again - "classiest" thing in the world to do? No. Most classless act by a professional football team? No. Something reasonable given all the circumstances? Yup. As 12th pointed out, its not like they had been running it up during the entire 4th quarter pouring it on after the Cowboys made it clear they were say "no mas". Up until the drive before the Cowboys were attempting to score. The Vikes were on the 10 and took a shot in the end zone. BFD. It clearly made the point as the cowboys didn't even pass on their next possession but called 2 or 3 running plays to run out the clock. Good point. Its not like Favre and the vikes were on their own 30 and just being asses. They were in easy scoring range. Really, pulling Favre and other key players out of the game (as many have suggested is what should have been done) and playing conservatively could have had the reduced the "momentum" the vikings carry going to New Orleans next week. Pulling starters out in a playoff game could also have "insulted" the cowboys even more. Favre was barely pressured all game. if i'm not mistaken, he's got the longest consecutive starting streak in NFL history. The chances of him getting hurt by staying in the game were minimal. it amazes me how people will criticize the colts for sitting starters in "meanless" games and then criticize a team for doing the opposite in a game that actually meant something. this is the playoffs. the cardinals-packers game aside, every other playoff game this season has been boring and borderline unwatchable - atleast the vikings kept things interesting, even in the final minutes. you also have to remember that this is very likely favre's final season in the NFL. its entirely possible that sunday was his last victory as well. why not let the man enjoy it? and for those saying favre has no class or respect, dont forget he essentially fell down on purpose so a certain someone could get the all time sack record. Favre, like Manning, has an incredible level of respect and appreciation for the game. If he felt it were unsportsmanlike to keep MTK 01-19-2010, 01:52 PM Again - "classiest" thing in the world to do? No. Most classless act by a professional football team? Agreed 100% tryfuhl 01-19-2010, 02:43 PM So by your logic the Redskins were never in many close games this year. We were not good enough to win your right. Only good enough to get there but plenty to build on. We lost more games by 3 or less points than any other team you dolt. You come on here to argue but never even make sense. tryfuhl 01-19-2010, 02:46 PM When was the last time Washington won a NFC championship or even went to one for that matter. I am thinking it was the 1991 season? Ouch. No freaking NFC Championship Game since 1991 and you talk about droughts. Trust me its gonna be several years before the Redskins get anything on track. 1991 geez lol. I am shocked with how many around here talk about the Cowboys post season when the DeadSkins have done even less. Seriously going 20 years back only two division titles. After the Skins last superbowl I think you are tied with Dallas after their last won with just two playoff wins. I guess our teams could be the Cincy who is in a real drought. and you guys were last in one in 95.. 4 years diff still going back 14 years.. you were probably still playing with barbies or getting touched by your uncle back then Ruhskins 01-19-2010, 02:48 PM MAke fun of Phillips all you want but facts are facts: Wade Phillips....lets see 3 years in Dallas: 33-15 regular season record (.686) 2 division championships in 3 years 2 playoff appearances in 3 years 1 playoff win in 3 years. Despite that resume, Jerry Jones would have fired him at the drop of a hat had they lost to Philadelphia. tryfuhl 01-19-2010, 02:57 PM Even if it's true that it's classless to go for the score in that situation (debatable but whatever) it's even MORE classless to whine about after the fact and preen like a chump in front of the sidelines. How did Gibbs react when Belichick went for it on fourth down in the fourth quarter leading 45-0? By stating emphatically that there was nothing wrong with what he did. Let other people call it classless Keith, you just got your bitch ass whooped so ride out quietly into the night. lol werd it's classless because on paper it would've looked like a closer game if they would've stopped trying? LOL.. you're going to have your starters in the full game eventually and score every single time that you can.. like I mentioned.. in-game experience is the best time to practice it.. it's the Cowboys fault that they made it look like a drill and not a battle tryfuhl 01-19-2010, 02:59 PM People siding with the Vikes are nothing but hypocrites. 2007 New England 52 Redskins 7. Remember??? How soon we forget. It's funny how when someone else gets the score run up on them ( Dallas) it's ok, but when it happens to us Bill Belicheck is an asshole. It's pro football. If you can't take getting scored on when the game is out of hand then either do something about it or find something else to do with your life. I can't stand it when people bitch about running up the score. So your opinion stands for all fans? I've stated on this board several times that I had no problem with the Patriots doing that. Speak for yourself. skinsfan69 01-19-2010, 03:06 PM People aren't cry babies for thinking that running up the score is classless and/or dumb. I thought it was classless and dumb in 2007 and I still think it is classless and dumb in 2010, regardless of who is running up the score. I still have no idea why someone would risk injury to his starters and needlessly show more of his playbook when a "W" is well in hand. I know that some people want to make a statement, but what kind of statement is made when a key player blows out his knee while running up the score? That the coach takes unnecessary risks with multimillion dollar assets? Also, I was just a teenager when Gibbs left, but when did Gibbs run up the score? 1992 against the Cardinals. Buges was the coach. He sent in Cary Conklin to throw a meaningless TD to Monk. He also did it to Glandville in 91. But who cares? I don't care if someone does it cause to me it's pro football. It's not classless what Bill B. did nor was it when Gibbs sent in Conklin to throw a pass when the score was out of hand. You're getting your guys some work during a game. Run your offense and defense til the game is over. End of discussion. I get so tired of this running up the score crap. Brooking looked like a punk ass little kid and so did Randall Godfrey. |
