wolfeskins 02-27-2010, 07:14 PM both campbell and collins are better. colt will never start for the skins barring some catastrophe in which both of those two are injured in the same game. it's as simple as that.
i doubt collins will be a redskins this coming season and campbell may or may not, so with that in mind it's possible that colt could not only be a redskin but he could be 1-the starter (prolly not but...) 2-the back up or 3- the 3rd stringer.
mlmpetert 02-27-2010, 07:20 PM He will get a shot, but did this really need to be a new thread? I know the cult is underrepresented this year in the QB debate but for all intents and purposes theres going to be a QB competition. Colt will probably be the odd man out, at this point I don't think he's better then Collins.
If Collins didnt play those 5 games after JC hurt his knee, would the consensus be that Todd is better then Colt? I guess its easy to say Todd is better then Colt because of the success he had during his 5 starts with us, but Colt still hasnt had a chance to prove himself. So yeah Todd is better, but only because we seen something from him, not because Colt had a real chance and blew it
Dirtbag59 02-27-2010, 07:28 PM Dirtbag, he has one thing Collins doesn't. Youth. I don't feel as if the Redskins are a team that need a savvy veteran at QB to pull them through in the starter goes down. Chances are even if the starter stays healthy for 16 games, the season ends week 17.
The thing is although he's a rarity, Bret Farve has at the very least people thinking about QB's under 40, so a guy like Todd Collins that had some pretty interesting bright spots in spot duty with no where near the wear and tear of Farve will at the very least be strongly considered to stay on the roster.

besides the fact that he's old, todd seems like a horrible fit for shannys offense. i gotta believe he's a gonner.
Mechanix544 02-27-2010, 08:04 PM Collins is out. If we are talking about true competition at every position, may the best player win, there are PLENTY of players on the market, and hey, in the draft for that matter, who could do what Collins is capable of doing BETTER than Collins, with a much larger upside. Collins is gone. Why would Shanahan retain the leftover scraps of an aging backup quarterback from the Zorn and Gibbs 2 era. He'll bring in his own guys.
Hopefully.
Ruhskins 02-27-2010, 08:21 PM Oh boy, here we go again....

Longtimefan 02-27-2010, 09:24 PM Everybody knows how I feel about the Colt. He will be a part of the QB competition, and no one should work harder than him because this may be his last opportunity to make a positive impression. I could be dreaming about Colt, but it's awfully difficult for me to believe a QB that set twenty-one Collegiate records does not have something to offer. I don't care what kingd of offense he played in, his credentials are impressive.

I agree. I think it's kind of silly to just write him off. Give him a shot with the first team in preseason. JC's not going to take all the snaps anyway. He made some mistakes last preseason but I don't think that's any reason to just dump him. Anyone who thinks Bradford or Clausen isn't going to make some mistakes is fooling themselves. I'd like to see what he can do and fully trust Shanny's decision on him.
