With that said, ultimately, you believe in a universe that can be explained through finite means and that we, as humans, could fully discover if given enough time. If that is the leap of faith you wish to make - so be it.

If you're referring to science then I'm not sure why you mention finite means.

Because we are finite beings and, as such, try as we might, we cannot fully comprehend the infinite. We have some concepts of infinity but they must be reduced to equations that can be understood by our individual or collective (and finite) brains. For example, we can define the constant ratio of a circle's circumference divided by its diameter as Pi, but, to date, we cannot calculate its exact value. Thus, in science, we inadequately use the finite term "Pi" and its equation to inadequately describe the infinite term that is 3.14159.....

Yeah, to be clear, no hate towards the believers on the board. Personally, I have some disdain for the large role that religion has played and continues to play in our society, as I see it as a divisive force that can never be definitively ended as everyone clings to their belief system. That disdain sometimes comes out a little too clearly in my views... apologies if any were offended.

I'm more concerned about it in this 1000 years than any other millienium

To assert that Christianity or that people working to further their christian beliefs has not created great benefits throughout the last 1000 years is to ignore history. I believe this was my point earlier. I fully accept that both on an individual and corporate basis, religion has been used as a destructive force in this world - I just believe that, on the whole over the last 1000 years, Christianity has brought more good than evil into the world.

The Battle of Hastings, the Normans are descendants of Vikings. Who cares when the Saxons became Christians. Fact is the Irish did not save civilization with one freaking book. You are reaching.

That my friend is called the reason why we don't need those guys in Texas rewriting our history books.

fundamentalism = over simplification with a few fabrications thrown in there to force logical square pegs into round holes.

I never mentioned that book. Don't forget the Chinese were around back then too.

On a personal note, with religion in mind, with no new answers in thousands of years I'm not sure what's left to go on.

Sorry, the concept that christianity today is in the same state it was in the year 1010 is simply wrong.

What? Are supposed to pop out a new savior every few years?

"SEE THE REINCARNATION PART MCCCV"
THERE'S A NEW SAVIOR IN TOWN AND THIS TIME HE'S GOT ALL THE ANSWERS - INCLUDING THE FINE PRINT.
